Dwayne Wade’s daughter Zaya made her runway debut in Paris on Tuesday, and the NBA star couldn’t be prouder. She showed off her style while hitting the catwalk for Miu Miu’s fall 2023 ready-to-wear show, which was held during Paris Fashion Week.
The teen was confident in her fashion statement in a forest green dress while walking down the catwalk. She carried a complementary brown handbag and paired it with pointed-toe kitten heels. Front and center, her parents Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union proudly sat to show their unwavering support for their daughter. At the same time, stylist Thomas Christos Kikis shared a sweet Instagram photo of them with the caption, “To witness your grace is something.”
Her dad couldn’t help but shed a tear as he watched her gracefully strutting down the catwalk. He posted a video of her runway performance on his social media accounts and even hugged her after the show, letting her know he was proud of her.
The 15-year-old was granted an official name and gender change last month after a Los Angeles County judge granted her request. She has since officially changed her name to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade.
Despite her biological mother, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, and her ex-husband Dwyane Wade’s strong disapproval, the teen was allowed to change her name and gender, according to People legally. She has been battling for change for three years.
She made her first public appearance as a transgender girl in 2020 with her father right by her side. Now, she is one of the newest models to hit the runway.
