Rapper and streamer DDG is opening applications for a new full-time cameraman, with tryouts set for Sunday, Aug. 2, in the Los Angeles area.
The move comes after multiple previous hires left the role to pursue their own streaming paths. In recent announcements, DDG described the process as a structured, bootcamp-style evaluation rather than a casual content opportunity. The selected candidate is expected to receive a formal contract.
Eligibility rules are firm. Applicants must currently live in Los Angeles, own a car and have no aspirations to become streamers or independent content creators. Additional requirements include a valid passport, government ID and the ability to monitor live chat while filming. The application also asks about physical fitness, swimming ability and any military or tactical experience. Candidates must be prepared to interact respectfully with DDG’s family.
Applications are being accepted via a form linked in the bio of the official Capaholics Instagram account. DDG has made clear that walk-ups without a completed application will not be considered.
The latest vacancy follows a pattern. Notable former cameramen include Johnny, who departed in 2025 to focus on streaming with DDG’s public backing at the time, and Ed, who worked with the streamer intermittently before exiting on more than one occasion. Other short-term hires have also moved on, some citing the physical and scheduling demands of extended IRL streams.
On a recent Kick broadcast, DDG addressed reports that his most recent cameraman left over compensation concerns. “No cameraman would ever make as much money as the n**** they’re filming,” he said, framing the role as a business position with significant lifestyle benefits, including international travel, quality accommodations and high-level access. “This is a business,” he added. “I’m not finna go above and beyond paying a motherfucker just because I’m making more money.”
The tryouts arrive as DDG continues balancing his music career with a growing presence in live streaming. The process is being positioned as both a practical hiring effort and content, with the goal of securing longer-term stability in a role that has seen repeated turnover.
