Cardi B and Offset’s McDonald’s Meal Makes Big Sales But Some Believe Their Lyrics Violate ‘McDonald’s Code’

When you and your partner order McDonald’s together, it’s like you’ve been doing this forever. You know your person’s go-to orders and the items they love to share, whether it’s their McCafe coffee or a McDelivery meal. It’s an unofficial love language and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.
The fast-food chain has a new Valentine’s Day promotion that you’ll want to grab on February 14. And it’s starring real-life couple Cardi B and Offset, who wed in 2017 and have 17-month-old daughter Wave and 4-year-old Kulture.

If you’re a fan of the couple, the meal comes in a special packaging that features Cardi B and Offset and a retro Valentine’s Day card. It’s available at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time, and you can check out the menu here.

Their deal may be cut short

It’s not the first time that a big-name artist has clashed with McDonald’s in this way, and some franchise owners have complained about it. Travis Scott teamed up with the company for a limited-time promotional campaign last year, and some restaurant owners complained that his music violated the company’s “Golden Arches Code,” which prohibits the use of content that “appears to be associated with content that promotes violence.”

Some of the artists that have partnered with the fast-food chain in recent years have had trouble getting their promotions approved. Drake was banned from promoting his partnership with the restaurant chain in 2016, and several other artists were removed from promotional campaigns for their lyrics that allegedly included violent or sexually-charged words.

    Offensive lyrics

But when it came to the latest ad with Cardi and Offset, some fans are taking issue with their lyrics. In particular, the song “Be Careful” and Offset’s new release “Catch a Body Broad Day” reference gun violence in a way that’s offensive to some people.

In fact, many have called the song a direct shot at Migos bandmate Takeoff, who was killed on November 1 in a shooting. As such, some people have questioned the song’s authenticity and are wondering how a song that focuses on gun violence can be considered romantic.

Despite the controversy, Cardi and Offset seem to be having a blast at the Super Bowl. They’re seen in the ad, and they also made an appearance at a special event in Houston, Texas.

The modern day Bonnie and Clyde

Their relationship has had its ups and downs, but they’re still one of the most popular couples in hip-hop. They have a beautiful family, and they’re still making music.

They are both very passionate about what they do, so it’s no wonder they were drawn to each other in the first place.

The pair’s love story is both complicated and beautiful, and they’ve experienced so much in the short time they’ve been together. They released music, got married, welcomed a baby girl and have had their fair share of cheating scandals.

During their whirlwind love life, the hip-hop duo have experienced so much as a couple and now they’re about to add one more thing to their list: a baby.
