Cardi B. Hosts The AMAs 2021
The 2021 American Music Awards kicked off in Los Angeles, California, at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday, Nov. 21, and hosted by no other than female rapper Cardi B. AMAs had performances from America’s favorites such as BTS, Bad Bunny, Tyler The Creator, Carrie Underwood, Olivia Rodrigo, and many others. It was a night that did not disappoint.
Silk Sonic opened the show with their latest song, “Smokin Out My Window,” which was a great start to the award show. Shortly after, Cardi B. announced Bad Bunny the first winner of the category, favorite Latin album, El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo, and later, favorite Latin male artist.
Olivia Rodrigo’s heartbreaking performance struck fans with her song, “Traitor,” and she won her first-ever AMA, the new artist of the year out of her seven nominations. The night was full of presenters that included Brandy, JoJo Siwa, Machine Gun Kelly, Winnie Harlow, and many other familiar faces.
BTS Makes History
BTS, Doja Cat, and Megan Thee Stallion won three awards apiece. The “Say So” artist took the collaboration of the year, favorite female r&b, and favorite r&b. While the “Body” star won favorite trending song, favorite female hip-hop artist, and favorite hip-hip album. The Korean boy band group created history at the AMAs by becoming the first-ever Asian group to win artist of the year, They won the award for best pop duo or group and best pop song for their hit track “Butter.”

Other AMAs 2021 Winners
Taylor Swift took two awards for the night that included favorite female pop artist and favorite pop album, evermore. Since the release of her latest debut album, Red (Taylor’s Version), she thanked her fans for their support and that this album has been a dream come true for the artist.
The battle of Boston took fans by surprise with their performance from New Edition and New Kids On The Block. The two boy groups performed a mix of their top charts like “Step By Step” and “If It Isn’t Love.” As a special treat, the AMAs 2021 took a trip back to the ’80s. Meanwhile, NKOTB has announced they are heading out on a cross-country tour next year, and fans are screaming for New Edition to join.
