Here’s The Real Reason Why Lena Waithe Cut Her Hair

0

Lena Waithe has been doing it up as of recent in her career, having landed network deals, working on blockbuster films and making headlines for her work. She’s also “buzzing” for a personal decision she felt was necessary for her image; she cut her hair down.

“I felt like I was holding onto a piece of femininity that would make the world feel comfortable with who I am,” Waithe told Variety. “I thought for a long time, ‘Oh, if I cut my hair, I’ll be a stud — in the gay world, there’s a lot of categories — I’ll be a stud or I’ll be a butch,’ and I’ve always thought, ‘Well, no, I’m not that, I’m still soft,’ and I said, ’Oh, I gotta put that down, ’cause that’s something that’s outside of me.’”

New tings. Cut by : @barberdolltheslayer

A post shared by Lena Waithe (@lenawaithe) on

“If people call me a butch or say, ‘She’s stud,’ or call me sir out in the world — so what?” Laithe said. “So be it. I’m here with a suit on, not a stitch of makeup, and a haircut. I feel like, ‘Why can’t I exist in the world in that way?'”

This drives home the point that everyone should consider: why care about societal standards? The “norms” of society are put in place for followers, not leaders. It’s easier to try to fit into a mold rather than create one for others to be positively influenced. We’re happy that Lena Waithe has made this choice for herself because it will inspire others to listen to their inner voice.

Here’s Why Vic Mensa is Our “Man of The Summer”

Vic Mensa responded positively to the recent news of Police putting sneaker bait trucks in low-income neighborhoods. He did a back to school giveaway of sneakers to those same communities Police targeted.

This past Sunday, the musician’s foundation Save Money Save Life threw an “anti-bait truck” giveaway, handing out boat-loads of shoes to those of the Englewood community in Chicago.

People across the U.S. have since then praised the efforts of Vic Mensa for demonstrating positive reinforcement of an ill-intended ploy to criminalize those in urban communities over basic necessities.

“To see the police escort a bait truck full of shoes through a low-income neighborhood where people can’t afford basic necessities, it seemed very representative of how ill-equipped they are to deal with the city’s issues,” Mensa said in an interview with the New York Times.

In my opinion, these are the efforts that need to be nationally publicized in every blog, website or feed. It’s three days after the event and I’m just finding out about this. What’s wrong with that picture? It’s good to know that there are still people in the world with a heart big enough to fill the needs of others freely.

Hip Hop has been a voice for the streets but hasn’t been a factor in helping them in times like these. Mainly due to the widespread mainstream message of violence, materialism and drug solicitation. Vic Mensa definitely deserves to be crowned in his actions even if this article is the only one to do so.

PREMIERE: RAJA – “Island Gyal” ft. Tory Lanez

1

Introducing RAJA, an international recording artist, model, and fashion designer. As seen on a Billboard article “New Face, Fresh Style”: Emerging Model Musician Raja on Blending Hip Hop With Bollywood,” Raja developed a well know buzz for himself in NYC with his previous release “Mannequin” ft. Fabolous and now his hit single “Island Gyal ft. Tory Lanez.”

RAJA Island Gyal ft Tory Lanez-1

Raja’s music style infuses influences of Indian instruments mixed with modern day Pop and Hip-Hop sounds. Separating him from the rest of the singers or rappers in the industry is his robust Urban Desi Culture. Discovering his passion at seven the tender age, Raja began playing the tabla drums. An instrument native to his culture, the Tabla Drums require the complex and extensive use of the fingers and palms; creating a wide variety of different sounds and rhythms. Elements noticed in his unique sound today.

I just make music that feels right to me; it can be more of an R&B song or it can be geared to a more popular sound, all of my music represents how I felt at a time or my personality

In this music video, you will see ‘RAJA’  arriving very late to his date in a red Lamborghini. His date realizes ‘RAJA’ is a player who’s uninterested in settling down. True to RAJA’s persona, he flirts with a waitress and invites her to Tory Lanez party. You can catch ‘RAJA’ styled in Dolce and Gabbana an exclusive to the brand; along with various girls refreshing themselves with Belaire and Aquahydrate water. RAJA’s main girl styled in prominent carnival brand “Stonejeh” International a Brooklyn, NY based company. Cast as Tory Lanez “Island Gyal” is a member of Paris Hilton’s Viceland TV show. Besides ‘RAJA’ and Tory Lanez, the jewelry shines in the video with exclusive designs from Marchello The Jeweler.

Oscar #Worldpeace & Ragz Originale – “Send”

0

North Londoner Oscar #Worldpeace teams up with Ragz Originale to deliver their latest single and visual titled “Send”, which shows a different side of the two.

Click here to watch this video if you’re reading this on Apple News.

This record is light, playful and fun at heart, with an easygoing beat and spirited record. The visual features both Oscar #Worldpeace and Ragz Originale sitting in the barbershop getting their hair cut, having the casual man talk about women in the DM. And no, it’s not in the same light as Yo Gotti’s smash hit Down in The DM.

The record is more gentleman-ish, the talk that if the women snooped in on their chat, they would think is cute and would actually want to give them the number. Of course, men are men, and we like what we like. Fat booty, a small waist, and a pretty face.

This visual is the perfect transition from Summer into Fall, as it serves as an entry that will most likely go down in history for the fellas and the ladies too. Check it out above.

Brockhampton Announces New Album ‘Iridescence’

1

Brockhampton announced that their fourth studio album Iridescence is on the way, and it arrives no later than this September!

Using the social media platform to share details, we know that the entire album was created in London. Kevin Abstract furthered the notion by adding “I just want us to keep making stuff we’re proud of and put it out when we’re ready. I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say, ‘thank you for your patience.”

Previous album announcements titled Team Effort and Puppy were put on hold when former member Ameer Vaan was accused of being “emotionally manipulative and mentally abusive.” As a result, Vann was banned from the group this past May, which was later justified by the group as “intolerable behavior.”

Since then, Brockhampton is on the right track to moving forward  with singles “1997 DIANA” “1998 TRUMAN,” and “1999 WILDFIRE.” Hopefully, Iridescence will solidify their return.

LISTEN: NY Based Producer Tha Jerm Enlists Kalipop For “Ching”

Kalipop Joins Instrumentalist Tha Jerm On “Ching”

Montreal’s Kalipop connects with SOI’s producer/engineer Tha Jerm to provide an ideal vibe over perfectly composed production. The pair has worked together in the past on various projects, including Kalipop’s most recent album ‘NEON,’ which was exclusively engineered and mixed by Jerm, and also featured his production on several tracks.

You may be familiar with his sound in the world of hardcore hip-hop, as Tha Jerm has worked with many veteran rappers such as Dave East, Lloyd Banks, Jim Jones, SchoolBoy Q, Danny Brown, French Montana, Styles P, Jadakiss, and more. This time around, the goal was to deliver something out of the ordinary.

The first time I met Kali, I knew she was a star. We’ve made many great records, but when I made this beat, I knew she was going to make this one VERY special! Her direction in creating “Ching” reflected on her situation at the time. She wanted to express that money doesn’t judge you like people do.

Kalipop was dealing with a lot during the recording process of Ching. She was feeling really broke and struggling with people judging her without knowing her, you know, like most people. We can see, that didn’t slow her down, nor did it discourage her from creating music to empower others. It’s definitely refreshing to see a young artist develop her own sound, write her own music and remain driven and confident.

Stream the song above and look for his ‘Destiny To The Riches’ project to drop this fall.
