The NBA Has Transcended The NFL as “America’s Sport”

The NFL is losing its clout. Last season’s Super Bowl was the league’s least-viewed since the Steelers and the Cardinals in 2009. To top that, the year’s season opener between the Eagles and Falcons was the lowest rated since 2008. Meanwhile, the NBA is ascending in the culture based on viewership and age. According to SportsBusiness Daily , the NBA’s average viewer is 42 as compared to the NFL’s average viewer is 50. Football, however, is increasingly losing out for obvious reasons.

First, NFL games are concerned with protecting “The Shield” than the player’s health. The league has made multiple attempts to remove itself from CTE studies and dealing with the punishment for domestic violence cases.

Then, there’s Colin Kaepernick absence. Let’s be honest, it is still haunting the league. The NFL seems to oppose Nike. And since, younger viewers have realized that Kaepernick was never protesting the flag or anthem. It was always about police brutality and the systematic oppression of minorities, not disrespecting the troops.

The NFL even went to the extent of installing a new national anthem policy. The NBA has placed a rule in effect that encourages players to speak up about social issues. NFL players, on the other hand, are more likely to be fined and deemed a distraction if they “voice their opinion about social issues.”

The NBA has its downfalls as well, but it has a while to go to match the NFL ratings. As the NFL tries to figure out how to remain relevant and speak to a younger audience, it should take a lead from the NBA and embrace hip-hop and social media. The goal is to speak to this younger generation. But, soon enough, we will be calling basketball “America’s new sport.”

Ella Mai Finally Breaks The Silence on Jacquees Drama

0

Ella Mai just recently delivered her self-titled debut album and it has not been anything outside of controversy. Jacquees has already released a cover of  “Trip” and gained momentum until the track was removed. Some has speculated that Ella herself had something to do with it.

At the 8:20 mark, she explains,

I don’t play any role in it, to be honest. I feel like my label made a statement, and there’s not really much else to say about it to be honest. People are gonna take it how they want.” She does say, however, that she cares about the situation only because she doesn’t want anyone assuming it was all her doing. “People don’t actually know the real ins and outs of the industry.

Following the fallout, it was also speculated that she blocked him on Instagram. “I never even followed him,” she explained. Check out the full interview above and let us know what you think above.

6lack & J.Cole Join Forces For New Visual “Pretty Little Fears”

0

6lack is back with a quick follow up to his “East Atlanta Love Letter” music video. Today, the Atlanta-native joins forces with J.Cole for the “Pretty Little Fears” visual. To compliment their undeniable chemistry, the new visual is the perfect marketing tactic for 6lack’s current tour with Terra Whack, Summer Walker, Boogie and THEY.

The two co-star in a cinematic visual with contrasting stories as 6lack expresses his feelings towards a past love affair, while J.Cole speaks to his current love interest. Serving as an engaging backdrop, the visual is full of carnivals, fall foliage, layers and more.

Take a look at the video above and take a look back at his dope visual for “Scripture.”

Floyd Mayweather may not stay retired for too long

0

Fresh off his triumph over Conor Mcgregor, lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedev is setting up Floyd Money Mayweather to be his next opponent. Leonard Ellebre, CEO of Mayweather’s company, came across Nurmagomedev during the World Boxing Super Series in Russia. In the video below, Nurmagomedev proposes that he and Mayweather set up a boxing match in the near future.

“Let’s go Floyd, we have to fight now. 50-0 versus 27-0, two guys that never like lose. Let’s go, why not? Because in the jungle there is only one king, only one king. Of course I am the king. He can drop to McGregor but I drop him easily. That’s right, let’s go.”

Floyd Mayweather may not stay

Mayweather responded by making an Instagram post, showing interest in stepping in the ring again after his retirement. Then, in a new interview with TMZ, Mayweather said, “I’m in the check-cashing business. I’m about that money. We fighting. I mean, I’m my own boss. So I can’t say what’s going on on Khabib’s end but on my end, we can make it happen.”

It looks like we might have a legendary fight on our hands.

Styles P Reveals New Project Release Date and Cover Art

Styles P could probably retire from hip-hop and go down as a legend. Instead, the rapper has decided that he’s not done with the game yet as he reveals a new project, titled Dime Bag, release date, and cover art.

Dime Bag is set to be released on November 2nd.

It looks as though Styles P was not playing any games in 2018. The rap legend even went as far as announcing the new project on Instagram after his highly anticipated joint project with Dave East, dubbed Beloved was released.
