Arizona Cardinals Receiver Marquis Brown Sentenced for Criminal Speeding

The Arizona Cardinals receiver was arrested on Wednesday morning and charged with criminal speeding, according to AP. The AP reports Brown was pulled over in north Phoenix around 7:05 a.m. The Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman told the AP that Brown was booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
The arrest comes days after Brown was accused of punching singer Parker Adams in the face during a photo shoot at the singer’s house. Adams filed a $1.5 million lawsuit against Brown and his bodyguard.
He pleaded guilty for hitting Adams while she was with two female fans. The singer was also awarded $25,000 in damages from Hollosy, who was supposed to serve as a key witness in the case but decided not to testify because it might jeopardize his own appeal.
Brown’s recent speeding charges are not his first time in trouble with the law. He has a long history of speeding tickets, including two that resulted in fatalities.
In 2016, Brown was behind the wheel of a BMW sedan that accelerated to 123 miles per hour before crashing head-on into a Dodge truck on New River Road east of Boathouse Road in Wilmington Township, according to police. The crash killed Brown’s 57-year-old mother, Annette Reed, and injured the driver of the truck, Jose Damian.
Brown’s lawyer told reporters that he is working to build an “adequate defense.” The case was the latest in a string of speeding and other traffic offenses that have left him serving time in prison for his crimes. He has a lengthy list of convictions, including larceny in a building and escaping from prison, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
