Former NFL star Antonio Brown is a fugitive tonight, wanted for attempted murder after a violent brawl turned deadly outside a Miami celebrity boxing event. A lawyer representing the victim has revealed shocking details from an arrest warrant, painting a grim picture of Brown’s actions on May 16, 2025.
The incident unfolded in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood at a high-profile boxing event hosted by social media influencer Adin Ross. The event, featuring internet sensations the Island Boys, drew a lively crowd. Around 1:30 a.m., the atmosphere outside the venue turned volatile when a fight broke out in the parking lot, followed by the sound of gunshots. Miami Police Detective Camacho, on scene for crowd control, witnessed two individuals locked in a struggle before one fled.
According to the arrest warrant issued on June 11, 2025, Brown, wearing green clothing and an army helmet, was at the center of the chaos. Surveillance footage shows him in a physical altercation with Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, a man he’s known since 2022. The video captures Brown throwing a punch at Nantambu’s face, escalating the fight. Two other individuals reportedly joined Brown, attacking Nantambu until he broke free.
Security guard Eric Bauer intervened, attempting to stop the brawl. But the situation spiraled further when Brown allegedly grabbed a black firearm from Bauer’s hip during their struggle. Cellphone footage, widely shared on social media, shows Brown sprinting down a sidewalk after Nantambu, who had fled the scene. In a heart-stopping moment, Brown raises the gun and fires two shots at close range. Nantambu, ducking to avoid the bullets, later told police one shot grazed his neck.
Nantambu, accompanied by his attorney, met with detectives at Miami police headquarters on May 17, 2025. He identified Brown as the shooter through a photo lineup and surveillance footage. Nantambu recounted the terrifying chase, stating,
“I ran for my life after he punched me and others jumped in. Then I heard shots and felt something hit my neck.”
Medical records confirm Nantambu sought treatment at Aventura Hospital for a neck wound and a broken finger before leaving, fearing further retaliation.
The arrest warrant charges Brown with second-degree attempted murder with a firearm, setting a $10,000 bond and ordering house arrest if he surrenders. Police recovered two shell casings at the scene but found no gun on Brown when they briefly detained him that night, leading to his initial release. Questions linger about how Brown disarmed Bauer without immediate consequences. Bauer has not publicly commented on the incident.
Brown, however, took to social media on May 17, 2025, claiming he was the victim. In a now-deleted post, he wrote,
“I was jumped by multiple individuals trying to steal my jewelry. I acted in self-defense, and police let me go after hearing my side. I’m pursuing legal action against my attackers.”
Despite his claims, the evidence, including video footage and Nantambu’s statement, presents a daunting case against the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver.
This isn’t Brown’s first legal trouble. Since leaving the NFL in 2021, the 36-year-old has faced allegations of battery, domestic violence, and unpaid child support. Fans and analysts often point to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain condition linked to repeated head injuries, as a factor in his erratic behavior. A 2019 incident, where Brown was hit helmet-to-helmet during an NFL game, is frequently cited as a turning point.
Miami-Dade police are actively searching for Brown, who remains at large. The case has sparked debate about accountability, mental health, and the pressures of fame. Nantambu’s lawyer, speaking to reporters, said,
“My client narrowly escaped with his life. We trust the justice system to hold Mr. Brown accountable for this brazen act.”
