Alabama Murder Suspect Dies of Heart Attack Dragging Body

Deputies in Chambers County, Alabama, responded to a report of an abandoned pickup truck on County Road 86 near Lanett on June 10, 2026. What they found in the nearby woods has left investigators and the community stunned: the bodies of a man and woman lying side by side, with clear signs of a desperate attempt to hide a crime.

According to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Daniel Robbins, a resident of Macon, Georgia, and his 47-year-old girlfriend Jessica Folds of Lanett were found in the woods. Deputies found Robbins’ Ford trucks with the engine running, the driver’s door open, the tailgate down, and drag marks on the ground from the vehicle into the woods. The two were found a short distance away from each other.

It is suspected that Robbins strangulated Folds during an altercation and attempted to conceal her corporeal form in the wilderness, which was 125 miles distant from his domicile. Nevertheless, he swooned while dragging her and subsequently perished.

Chambers County District Attorney Mike Segrest provided key details.

“He died of a heart attack while doing it,”

Segrest said.

“Their bodies were right there together.”

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation assisted, and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences handled the autopsies. Sheriff Jeff Nelson’s team responded after a passerby reported the stopped truck. Robbins was found in a fetal position; Folds had her hands raised above her head. The case has been closed as a death investigation since Robbins died at the scene.

Autopsies confirmed Jessica Folds died from strangulation, ruled a homicide. Daniel Robbins died of a heart attack. Reports from his ex-wife indicated he had a pre-existing heart condition, though officials have attributed the official cause to the autopsy results.

Authorities describe Robbins as the suspected killer based on the evidence and investigation. He faced no charges because he died before any arrest or trial.

The story spread quickly after outlets like Daily Loud shared it. Many online reactions framed the circumstances dramatically, but officials have stuck to factual accounts without speculation.

Jessica Folds was a mother of three adult sons and two grandchildren, who was loved for her “heart of gold,” kindness, and “beautiful smile,” according to her obituary.

This is yet another tragic case of domestic violence, and, despite the gruesome details that have been published in the media, the family and society have lost much more precious treasure: a mother of two children and a loving grandmother with a heart of gold.

Even though Robbins is being remembered as a ‘country boy’ who enjoyed hiking, hunting, camping, and fishing in his free time by numerous newspapers, it is vital to remember that, until all the autopsies and evidence are sorted out, it is best not to believe in conspiracy theories.

Authorities reminded the community that it is essential to look after their loved ones and not engage in activities dangerous for them and other people, as this case has brought up too many relevant questions. Moreover, it is critical to know that help is available for victims of domestic abuse, and it is vital to report such incidents.
