South African trio Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode also won a Grammy for Best Global Music Performance for their track “Bayethe.” This is their second award following a win last year by Black Coffee in the same category.

Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy was nominated in the Best Global Music Performance for his hit song “Love, Damini” with American singer Matt B. The song is a powerful anthem to the protest movement in Iran.

Various Nigerian musicians also took to social media to congratulate Tems on her Grammy win. Olamide, Tiwa Savage, and Waje all posted messages to her on Twitter.

Tems also made headlines for her stunning Viviane Westwood evening gown. She draped her figure in a long gold dress and walked the Grammy’s red carpet style.

She was accompanied by her husband, wearing a tuxedo and holding her baby daughter.
