Streamer Henry Poston has detailed a late-September encounter on a Rhode Island bike path in which he says a man threatened to kill him during a livestream and then followed him as he fled for miles on his electric longboard.
Poston, who streams under the handle wenevergetyounger while lying flat on the board in a style he calls coffinboarding, was riding the Blackstone River Bikeway in Lincoln on his way north toward Boston. Near the end of a roughly two-and-a-half-hour stream he met a cyclist who introduced himself as Joshua. The two talked, and Joshua invited him off the main trail to see a spot near the canal. Poston followed into a wooded area where an American flag stood nearby.
He later told local reporters he sensed something off about the man early on but continued the conversation. The tone shifted when Joshua made a remark Poston repeated on stream as “Your ass is canal water.” Asked what that meant, Joshua said it meant he had already killed him and that he was dead at the bottom of the river. Joshua then repeatedly told him to turn the camera off so he could kill him and throw his body into the water. Poston has said he believed the man had at least a knife.
On the live feed Poston told viewers the man had ordered him to shut off the stream and was going to kill him, adding that the man was still following him. He turned the longboard around and fled at speeds he has estimated near 30 miles per hour. He rode approximately six miles before reaching his car, then drove out of Rhode Island. He has said he has not returned to the state since.
In a November 4 post on X that helped the clips circulate more widely, Poston wrote that he “genuinely believed I was going to die that day.” He described making it back to his car and leaving the state. The full stream is available on his Twitch channel and on YouTube.
Poston has also noted that roughly 55 days earlier, on August 5, authorities recovered the body of 28-year-old Efrain A. Espinosa of Woonsocket from the Blackstone River near the South Main Street Bridge. Espinosa had been reported missing days before. Police said at the time they did not suspect foul play or suspicious circumstances. Poston has stated he is not claiming any connection between the incidents and has no evidence linking them, though the location and the nature of the threat stayed with him. He reported the stream encounter to police once he felt safe. Cumberland officers referred the matter to Lincoln police, which has jurisdiction over the section of the path. Earlier local reporting indicated Lincoln police had not publicly confirmed an active case.
A man who regularly walks the same path told NBC 10 that he knows the person who identified himself as Joshua and described him as someone of good character. Poston has maintained that the threat felt real to him and that he remains concerned the man could harm someone else. The clips that resurfaced in early November show the moment the exchange changed and the beginning of his departure on the board. Outlets including Dexerto covered the renewed attention after his X post. Poston has said the day made clear to him how much he wanted to keep living once he thought that option might be taken away.
