Presley Walker Gerber, the 27-year-old model and only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles County, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
The cause of death has not been released, and an autopsy remains pending. A representative for the family confirmed the news and said, “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Gerber was born July 2, 1999, in Brentwood, California. He grew up in the Los Angeles area with his younger sister, Kaia Gerber, a model and actress. Their parents married in 1998. Rande Gerber co-founded the Casamigos tequila brand with George Clooney.
Like his mother and sister, Presley Gerber entered modeling as a teenager. He signed with IMG Models at 15 and made his runway debut in 2016 for Moschino’s resort collection in Los Angeles at age 16. He later walked for Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and appeared in campaigns for Calvin Klein, Celine, Pepsi and Omega.
In 2018 he starred alongside his mother in a Pepsi commercial that recreated her iconic 1992 Super Bowl ad. He also worked as a photographer and supported causes including A Sense of Home, which assists young people aging out of foster care. He ran a “Mental Health Mondays” series on social media aimed at reducing stigma around mental health and addiction.
Gerber spoke openly in recent years about his long struggle with mental health issues, depression and substance use. In a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, he said that if sharing his experiences helped even one person leave the place he had been in, “that’s all I need to do.” He described mental health work as ongoing, calling it “a 24/7 job.”
In 2019, at age 19, he was arrested for driving under the influence in Beverly Hills. He received three years of probation and was ordered to complete a DUI program. In late 2025 he posted about medications used to treat panic attacks and later shared details of treatment approaches, including one involving an ibogaine dose.
In an August 2026 interview for Vogue’s September issue, Kaia Gerber discussed the impact of her brother’s decade-long struggle with drug addiction on the family. “When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said. She added that she had identified as “the easy one” and avoided asking for help so as not to burden their parents further.
Kaia Gerber described her brother as an “absolute teacher” who chose to be open. “My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” she told the magazine. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
In July, Cindy Crawford marked her son’s 27th birthday with childhood photos and wrote that she was proud of the man he had become while still seeing him as her little boy. Gerber is survived by his parents and sister.
