Kanye West Reveals What North West Told Him Last Time They Went Out Together

A social media post claiming that Ye revealed a private conversation with his daughter North West has circulated this week, but the account remains unconfirmed.

On Aug. 26, an X user posted that the rapper “reportedly” shared what North told him during a recent outing: that her mother, Kim Kardashian, was trying to persuade her to step away from music and focus on SKIMS and modeling, and had threatened to withdraw support for her music career if she did not comply. No primary source, interview clip or statement from Ye accompanied the claim, and it has not been corroborated by major outlets.

The rumor arrives as North, 13, continues to build her own music profile. In a cover interview for the Autumn 2026 issue of Dazed, photographed by Gus Van Sant, she was asked about the worst advice she has received. “To start my career later,” she replied. “It’s like, nah, this is my hobby, this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life.”

North described her ideal day as one spent rehearsing, then heading into the studio, or performing a major show. She added that she does not like to rest much. When asked what she would pursue if she were not an artist, she said she still wanted to work and expressed interest in a regular job at Starbucks after turning 14.

Her self-written and produced debut EP, N0rth4evr, arrived on May 1. The six-track project mixes punk and rage-rap elements. She has since performed live, including a surprise set with Molly Santana and her first solo festival appearance at Summer Smash in June. Additional visuals, among them a horror-inspired video for the track “Aishite,” have followed.

Both parents publicly celebrated the Dazed cover. Ye shared the photos on Instagram Stories, while Kardashian posted them on X.

North has also modeled for her mother’s brand, appearing in a 2020 SKIMS campaign alongside her sister Chicago and returning for a 2025 holiday collaboration with Cactus Plant Flea Market.

Kardashian has previously spoken about her daughter’s creative drive. In a February interview with Complex, she said North “loves producing music and wanted to share it with the world and isn’t afraid if people will like it.” Ye has collaborated with North on tracks and credited her interest with reigniting his own studio work.

The family has seen public disagreements over North’s career before. In March 2025, a dispute arose after Ye released a song featuring her vocals alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs. Kardashian reportedly sought to block the release, citing concerns about the association and her control of the North West trademark. Ye shared related text messages at the time.

As of now, the specific claim that Kardashian is pressuring North to abandon music remains unverified. What is clear from North’s own recent comments is her determination to continue pursuing music on her own terms.
