NBA YoungBoy Commits to 6 Months of Sobriety After Flushing Substances

YoungBoy Never Broke Again posted a pair of Instagram Stories on Wednesday revealing that he flushed substances down the toilet instead of using them and is aiming for six months of sobriety. In a separate Story, the rapper also teased upcoming music.

“I wanted to get high last night I just flushed the shit down the toilet,” he wrote. “I’m trying to see if I really can make it to 6 months.”

A second Story read: “Hope yall ready for my album. This when we separate this and that.”

The posts come just days after YoungBoy discussed a heart condition and the possibility of winding down his career during an appearance on Funny Marco’s Open Thoughts podcast, which was filmed in South Korea. On the episode, the 26-year-old said a doctor informed him during his 2025 Make America Slime Again tour that the left side of his heart was swollen. He kept the diagnosis private and completed the remaining dates.

“My heart kind of still is enlarged on this little side,” YoungBoy told Marco. “That explains the music though, right? She’s hurting.”

During the same conversation, he estimated he has “one or two” albums left and plans only one more tour. He also confirmed he is living in South Korea and has no intention of returning to the United States long-term.

YoungBoy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been open about substance use in the past, including starting cigarettes at a young age. His legal history includes a 2025 presidential pardon that resolved remaining gun and prescription-drug related cases.

Fans shared the Instagram Stories widely on social media, with many expressing support for the sobriety effort and anticipation for the next project. No additional details about the substances, medical treatment or album timeline have been released.
