Sarah Fontenot Marries Friend Six Days After Breakup

Sarah Fontenot, host of the popular relationship-focused podcast It’s Giving, has sparked widespread online discussion after sharing details of her rapid journey to marriage with longtime friend Brock Shorter.

In a March 2026 episode of her podcast titled “We Got Married in 6 Days!,” Fontenot openly recounted the timeline of events that led to her legal marriage to Shorter in August 2025. The couple later held a ceremonial wedding on Feb. 15, 2026.

“He said, ‘Let that man go.’ The very next day, I cut him off, and we got married in 6 days,” Fontenot said in the episode.

According to Fontenot, the turning point occurred during a trip to Costa Rica around August 2025. At the time, she had been in a two-year platonic friendship with Shorter, a successful entrepreneur with ties to comedian Kountry Wayne’s circle, while casually dating another man with whom she had discussed marriage.

On Aug. 12, Shorter urged her to end the other relationship. “August 12th, um, he said you need to let that man go,” Fontenot recalled. “I said, do you get what you’re telling me? … He said, fuck that nigga. … So the very next day I sent a message and I let that man go.”

She ended the prior relationship the following day. Six days later, on Aug. 18, 2025, Fontenot and Shorter were legally married at the courthouse. Shorter had reportedly called her father to ask for permission, and both families reacted positively to the news.

“My whole family knows him. All my friends know him,” Fontenot shared. When Shorter told his mother he was getting married, she asked, “To who? Sarah?” Fontenot added that her parents were especially happy, describing Brock as “like, he’s a husband already.”

The couple kept their legal marriage private initially before celebrating publicly with their ceremonial wedding on Valentine’s Day weekend 2026. They have since shared positive updates about their life together, including plans to start a family.

Fontenot and Shorter, now going by Dr. Sarah Shorter and Brock Shorter, emphasized on the podcast that their more than two years of friendship served as a strong foundation for the quick decision. Brock noted he was ready for full commitment and preferred decisive action over prolonged dating.

The revelation has divided social media audiences. Some viewers have questioned the optics of transitioning so quickly from discussing marriage with one partner to marrying another, fueling debates about opposite-sex friendships, rebound relationships and the pace of modern commitments. Others have praised the couple for acting on readiness and alignment after a long platonic connection.

As of May 2026, nearly nine months into their legal marriage, the pair continues to post content portraying a united and forward-looking relationship.

Fontenot, a content creator, speaker and entrepreneur focused on self-worth, femininity and high-value dating, has addressed some of the criticism directly in her content. The couple maintains that outsiders do not have the full context of their story and that they made an intentional choice suited to their circumstances.
