Iconic ‘Drake & Josh’ House Torn Down After 20 Years

The iconic house used for exterior shots of the Parker-Nichols family home in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh has been torn down, with a sleek contemporary residence now standing in its place.

The property at 3878 Alonzo Avenue in Encino, California, which appeared in opening credits and numerous establishing shots throughout the series’ 2004-2007 run, was sold in February 2018 for approximately $1.55 million. Shortly after the sale, the original two-story home — built in 1976 with classic suburban features including brick accents, a gabled roof and front steps — was demolished. A new modern two-story structure featuring white stucco exteriors, large glass elements and minimalist design was completed around 2019-2020.

Actor Drake Bell highlighted the change in summer 2018 when he visited the site and posted a video showing the largely empty lot, with only the brick mailbox remaining. “The Drake & Josh House is GONE!!” Bell captioned the viral clip, eliciting strong reactions from fans of the long-running sitcom.

The original 4,033-square-foot home sat on a roughly 0.41-acre lot that included a pool, tennis court and canyon views. While interiors for the series were filmed on a soundstage at Nickelodeon on Sunset (itself later demolished), the Alonzo Avenue residence became synonymous with the show’s relatable family chaos, from Megan’s pranks to the stepbrothers’ misadventures.

The rebuild aligns with a common trend in the Los Angeles area, where rising property values often lead owners to replace older homes with updated luxury constructions. Current estimates value the updated property significantly higher, reflecting both the full renovation and broader market appreciation in Encino.

Side-by-side comparison photos of the cozy original and the contemporary replacement have resurfaced recently on social media, sparking nostalgia-fueled discussions, memes and laments of “childhood ruined” among fans who grew up with the series. Despite the physical change, the episodes — and their enduring pop culture impact — remain widely available.
