The death of notorious Mexican cartel leader Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes is drawing renewed attention to members of his family — including a daughter who has been quietly operating a coffee shop in Southern California for years.
Laisha Michelle Oseguera González, 24, is the youngest daughter of the late founder of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of Mexico’s most powerful criminal organizations. While her father spent years as one of the world’s most wanted drug traffickers, Oseguera González has been living a markedly different life in Perris, Calif., where she runs a neighborhood café called El Rincon La Chulis.
The story resurfaced widely following El Mencho’s death on Feb. 22, 2026, when Mexican military forces killed the cartel leader during a major security operation. His death ended a years-long pursuit by authorities and renewed scrutiny of relatives connected to the CJNG network.

Meanwhile, in a modest strip mall in Riverside County, Oseguera González continues to run El Rincon La Chulis, a café known locally for specialty drinks and brunch-style dishes. The shop’s menu includes items like iced horchata lattes, Mexican mochas and strawberry matcha drinks, alongside plates of chilaquiles and fruit crepes — sometimes served on heart-shaped dishes.
Regular customers describe the café as a friendly neighborhood spot with lighthearted décor and playful slogans on the walls. Reviews across local platforms portray Oseguera González as polite and low-key, rarely discussing her family background or personal life with patrons.
Still, the family connection has continued to generate attention, particularly after developments involving other relatives.
Her sister, Jessica Johanna Oseguera González — also known as “La Negra” — previously served time in the United States after pleading guilty to money-laundering charges tied to CJNG-linked businesses. She was released from prison in 2022 and reportedly visited the Perris café last year.
Authorities have also investigated Oseguera González’s husband, Cristian Gutiérrez-Ochoa, who prosecutors say was a cartel associate. According to federal officials, he was arrested in 2024 and later convicted on charges related to trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine and laundering drug proceeds. He is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence.
Despite the legal cases involving members of her family, there has been no public evidence linking Oseguera González herself — or her café — to criminal activity.
Still, the juxtaposition between her father’s violent legacy and her seemingly ordinary life running a small café has captured public attention online. Posts about the story have circulated widely on social media, drawing thousands of reactions and comments from users struck by the contrast between the cartel world and suburban café culture.
For now, El Rincon La Chulis continues to operate like any other neighborhood coffee shop — serving espresso drinks and brunch plates to locals — even as the shadow of one of Mexico’s most infamous criminal figures looms over its backstory.
