Daniel Collins, the Bronx drill force known as D Thang, stared down handcuffs in Miami last night that could shatter his fragile shot at redemption just nine months after prison bars finally swung open.
Police nabbed the 22-year-old on September 28 during what started as a routine traffic stop in Miami-Dade County. A quick search turned up cocaine, cannabis, and a firearm tucked away, all off-limits for a guy with his record. This marks his second Miami run-in this year, right after a June 30 bust for carrying a gun as a felon that let him walk on $15,000 bond.
Collins, who goes by D Thang Gz online, carved his name in NYC drill with cuts like “No More Fucks” and “Talk Facts” that hit hard on street truths from Highbridge. His bars shout out River Park Towers, the Bloods-tied spot where he grew up, and they pulled in over 500,000 Spotify listeners during his hot streak. That rise kicked off fast in January 2024 when he stepped out after serving time on a 2022 RICO case. Federal prosecutors hit him and 33 others with 65 counts back then, from attempted murder to gun crimes and even animal cruelty tied to Bronx shootings.
He cut a deal, did about two years inside, and hit the ground running with music. French Montana’s Coke Boys crew scooped him up quick, dropping him on tracks that promised bigger plays. After that first free walk, fans lit up X with support, but parole rules hung tight, and out-of-state trips spelled risk.
Now this. Cocaine charges in Florida pack up to five years, the gun charge as a felon adds federal heat that could mean 10 more, and even the cannabis charge weighs in against his status. New York parole folks might pull him back across state lines any minute, wiping out good behavior credits from his old bid. No word from his camp yet, and his feeds stay dark since the cuffing.
