The teens were shot dead on July 2, 2024, in Atlanta’s Oakland City neighborhood during a birthday celebration for Freeman. The violence, which also left an 11-year-old boy critically injured, stemmed from a feud between rival gangs sparked by a music video shoot featuring rapper Lil Baby.
The chain of events began in May 2024, when Lil Baby, whose real name is Dominique Jones, filmed a music video in Dixie Hills, a territory tied to the Only My Family (OMF) gang, a faction of the Goodfellas gang. The shoot turned chaotic, leaving three men injured and fueling tensions between OMF and Lil Baby’s alleged crew, 4 Pockets Full (4PF). Atlanta police have labeled the incident a reckless act that set off a deadly gang rivalry, culminating in the devastating loss of two young lives.
Investigators say the July 2 shooting was orchestrated by a senior Goodfellas member using a smuggled cellphone from Hays State Prison. Intended as payback for Lil Baby’s presence in rival turf, the attack tragically claimed Freeman and Davis instead of its intended targets. Seven suspects—Quiyontay Sanders, Richard Hollis, Reginald Thomas, DeKeitheon Mobley, Markus Crawford, Tradon Crawford, and Ali Caldwell—were arrested and now face murder charges. The latest reports of a prison-ordered hit on these suspects have heightened concerns about escalating violence.
