Rapper Young Thug nearly screwed himself over during a routine traffic stop in Miami early Friday morning.
The Atlanta star, who’s still sitting on a 15-year probation sentence from that massive YSL RICO plea deal, got pulled over doing 83 in a 45 at 3:10 a.m. on February 20, 2026. Bodycam footage shows the whole thing: cops run his name, find out his license is suspended, and it could’ve easily turned into handcuffs and a trip straight back to jail.
Miami police stopped Young Thug (real name Jeffery Williams) while he was behind the wheel of a light-colored luxury whip. The officer walks up to the window, breaks the news about the speeding ticket and the suspended license tied to unpaid “financial responsibilities,” and basically tells him he could be taking him in right there.
A tweet from X.
But instead of cuffing him, the cop just wrote him a citation and let him go. His passenger ended up driving the car away. No arrest, no impound, nothing. The whole tense exchange is captured in a 43-second AXON BODY 4 clip that first blew up when @mymixtapez dropped it on X in mid-April 2026.
At one point the officer looks at him and says straight up:
“Driving with a suspended license is grounds for arrest, especially while you’re on 15 years probation from that YSL RICO case.”
Young Thug stays pretty calm through it, but you can see his face when the cop mentions the “financial responsibilities” he makes this surprised, half-amused expression before just nodding and saying “yeah.” The cop hands him the ticket and warns him again to get his license straight before something worse happens.
Under normal probation rules, a new arrest or any serious violation like this can send you right back in front of a judge to revoke your probation and activate the rest of your sentence. For Young Thug, that would have meant losing the freedom he barely got after the longest criminal trial in Georgia history.
He copped a plea in October 2024 to racketeering and gang charges, taking time served plus 15 years of strict probation. The deal made it crystal clear: break any law even a traffic ticket and it could all come crashing down. There was already one probation violation attempt in 2025 over some social media posts, but the judge shot that down. Still, the warning was loud and clear.
Once that bodycam footage hit the internet, it went viral quickly. Millions of views across X, Instagram, and hip-hop sites like XXL and WorldStar. Fans were split down the middle: some were calling the officer “solid” for showing some leniency and just giving a ticket. Others were dragging Young Thug hard in the comments, saying stuff like
“He needs to hire a driver yesterday” and “Bro almost self-sabotaged his whole probation.”
