Wiz Khalifa Tells 13-Year-Old Son to Wait Before Smoking Marijuana

Wiz Khalifa built his brand on cannabis. Khalifa Kush is his strain. His music and public image lean hard into the lifestyle. So when a clip surfaced of him telling his own 13-year-old son to hold off on weed, people took notice.

In a recent video circulating on X, first posted by @StayWerkin on August 19, 2026, and quickly picked up by No Jumper the next day, the Pittsburgh rapper addressed the subject head-on. He said he learned that some of Sebastian “Bash” Thomaz’s friends were already experimenting. His response was clear: wait.

“You know, my son is becoming of age where his friends are experimenting with marijuana,”

Wiz said.

“And I’m telling them, I’m like, yo, that’s a different lifestyle man, because you’re going to go through a lot. You got to train yourself to be able to understand pot and it’s not worth all the training.”

He continued:

“If you don’t got to go through it, go through life, do productive stuff and then figure out how to train yourself with marijuana.”

Wiz explained that he learned to balance it through his own circumstances growing up with limited money in a tough environment. He warned that not everyone makes it past a certain stage.

“Everybody doesn’t make it out of the loving the smoke pot being lazy and hanging with their friends stage,”

he said.

“You go through the weed phase. A lot of people don’t like the weed phase.”

Wiz told young people to wait until they have discipline and some accomplishments under their belt.

“Wait till you’re older, wait till you got discipline and you’ve accomplished some things because some people don’t make it out of that stage, bro. I’m trying to tell you it’s difficult.”

The video clip, which is around three minutes long, depicts Wiz at a studio where he is wearing headphones and a black cap that resembles the Chrome Hearts caps. He is seen talking while smoking Khalifa Kush and conversing in what seems like a live broadcast or an unscripted discussion. Several versions of this video clip exist with the same caption as his words.

Bash, born in 2013 to Wiz and Amber Rose, turned 13 earlier this year. Independent coverage has previously confirmed his age and the family’s open approach to cannabis culture in the home. Wiz has talked before about the house smelling like kush and Bash carrying that scent to school, while stressing he avoids smoking directly around the kids.

Cannabis has become more normalized across much of the U.S., with adult legalization in many states. Public figures who use and sell it face a different set of questions when they talk to their own children. Wiz has never hidden his habits. He has discussed showing up high to parent-teacher conferences in the past and treating the plant as part of adult life. This latest message draws a line at early teen use.

The comments do not read as a sudden reversal. They sound like a father who lives the lifestyle telling his son the timing matters. Build something first. Develop the maturity to handle it. Some people never leave the phase of smoking, hanging out, and staying stuck.

Wiz closed the thought by saying he gives the same advice to other young people: either wait or be ready for everything that comes with it. For grown adults, he shrugged that’s their call.
