US odds to win World Cup have surged 5x since tournament started!

The United States Men’s National Team is generating serious buzz — both on the pitch and in the betting markets — after a commanding start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup as co-hosts.

Prior to the tournament’s mid-June kickoff, the USMNT sat as longshots with futures odds generally ranging from +5000 to +6000 across major sportsbooks. But following two impressive group stage victories, those odds have tightened notably to the +2800 to +3500 range, according to lines from books including BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel. The shift reflects growing confidence in the Americans’ chances, fueled by strong domestic betting support and their early dominance.

In Group D, the U.S. opened with a 4-1 win over Paraguay on June 12, powered by multiple goals from Folarin Balogun and creative play from Gio Reyna. They followed that with a 2-0 clean sheet victory over Australia on June 19, clinching top spot in the group with a +5 goal difference. The results mark the first back-to-back World Cup wins for the USMNT since 1930 and have them advancing comfortably to the Round of 32.

Christian Pulisic missed the Australia match due to a calf issue, but the squad demonstrated depth under coach Mauricio Pochettino, blending defensive organization with attacking flair.

While European favorites like France (around +370 to +420), Spain and England remain heavy favorites at the top of the odds board, the U.S. has climbed into the top 10-12 range on many sportsbooks. The movement has been one of the more notable early shifts in the expanded 48-team tournament, driven in part by patriotic betting volume from American fans.

Sportsbooks have reported the USMNT as one of the most-bet teams by ticket count in the opening week, turning the squad into something of a liability for some books amid the public money flooding in.

It’s still early, of course. The knockout stages will present far tougher tests, and deeper runs would require the Americans to topple established powers. Yet the home advantage as co-hosts — alongside Canada and Mexico — combined with their group stage momentum has already created a wave of excitement around the team’s prospects.

No host nation has failed to advance from the group stage in the modern era, and the format expansion has provided additional opportunity. As the tournament heads into the Round of 32, all eyes will be on whether the USMNT can sustain the hype and deliver a memorable run on home soil.
