A viral graphic circulating on social media this week falsely claims that Pitchfork ranked “Nicki Minaj’s Entire Digital Footprint” as the worst moment in hip-hop in 2025. The post, which mimics Pitchfork’s signature review style, is not authentic and was not published by the music outlet.
The fabricated image, dated Dec. 19, features two edited visuals. The caption claims Pitchfork labeled Minaj’s online presence “the worst moment of 2025 in hip-hop,” citing a list of controversies including feuds with Jay-Z, Cardi B, and SZA, alleged insults toward Beyoncé, criticism of Kamala Harris, and attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. Pitchfork has not released any such ranking. As of Dec. 19, the publication’s year-end coverage includes a general roundup titled “101 Things That Happened in 2025,” with no entry singling out Minaj’s social media activity.
Despite being fake, the post draws on a real and widely scrutinized year for Minaj online.
In July, Minaj publicly clashed with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, accusing the company of sabotaging her career and withholding money tied to her Tidal equity stake. The dispute unfolded across multiple social media posts and was linked to her defense of Lil Wayne amid Super Bowl halftime show discussions and reactions to Megan Thee Stallion’s harassment lawsuit, according to reports at the time.
Minaj’s long-running feud with Cardi B escalated sharply in late September and early October. While the Pitchfork graphic is fake, its rapid spread reflects broader fatigue among fans and critics over Minaj’s online controversies in 2025. The meme has garnered thousands of likes and reposts, primarily from users framing it as satire — underscoring how Minaj’s social media presence has become one of the most polarizing topics in hip-hop discourse this year.
