Mia Goth Reportedly Files for Divorce from Shia LaBeouf After Marriage

Mia Goth, 32, filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf, 40, in Los Angeles County Superior Court on October 6, 2026. Court documents list the couple’s separation date as July 28, 2025. Goth cited “irreconcilable differences,” requested primary legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter Isabel with visitation for LaBeouf, and asked that neither party receive spousal support.

It represents the formalization of the division that occurred over one year ago. It is not a spontaneous separation in October 2026.

Goth has filed a petition for divorce using the no-fault grounds in California. “Irreconcilable Differences” is simply legalese and does not state the cause of the separation. The petition for custody of the children is not an order, but a petition. The filing of the document does not signify the completion of the divorce process.

Multiple outlets, including the Associated Press, TMZ, and People, reported the documents. Representatives for both actors had not issued public comments in the initial coverage.

Goth and LaBeouf met in 2012 while filming Nymphomaniac: Vol. II. Their relationship was on-and-off for years. They held a Las Vegas wedding ceremony in 2016. Public reports of a split surfaced in 2018, though they remained legally married. They reconciled around 2020 and welcomed Isabel in 2022. This was the first marriage for both.

After the July 2025 separation date listed in the petition, LaBeouf relocated to New Orleans and purchased a home there. In February 2026 he was arrested during Mardi Gras following a bar altercation. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery charges and received probation along with court-ordered programs. Around the same period he resolved remaining issues from a prior legal dispute with FKA Twigs. These matters are separate from the divorce filing. No court document or on-record statement links them as the cause of Goth’s petition.

In the March 2026 interview, LaBeouf stated that the couple’s reconciliation was an opportunity for them to admit to “being deeply unhappy”, “resentment and breach of trust” and that the situation was “unhealthy for the family.” These are LaBeouf’s allegations, not necessarily established facts.

The October 6 filing marks the beginning of the divorce proceedings which have been postponed from the July 2025 separation. Additionally, spousal support and custody issues are still before the court. The case will now follow California’s standard procedures in order to come to a final ruling.
