Twitch streamer Kai Cenat said during a livestream on October 8, 2026, that he is assembling a team of astronauts and space specialists with the goal of eventually broadcasting from space, describing the effort as a focus for 2027 even if the flight itself does not occur that year.
Speaking on his “Leave Me Alone” stream, the 24-year-old creator told viewers he was “trying to put things together” and that “we are going to reach for the stars,” which he defined as concentrating on a space mission. He added that the trip “may not be in 2027” but that he was “putting together a bunch of astronauts and people who can study space.” Cenat said portions of the preparation would appear on stream, including an extended segment in which he and his audience would discuss planets and the solar system.
The remarks recirculated the next day after accounts including DailyLoud and others posted clips of the stream. Cenat has referenced the idea before. During his November 2024 Mafiathon 2 subathon he said he wanted to be the first streamer to say “Yo chat” from space and later posted a message to Elon Musk outlining the same ambition. In a September 2025 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show he stated he “was supposed to go to outer space this year” but that “some things didn’t happen.”
Kai Carlo Cenat III was born December 16, 2001, in New York City to a Trinidadian mother and Haitian father and was raised primarily in the Bronx. He began posting comedy videos on YouTube in 2018, joined the AMP creator collective, and shifted to regular Twitch broadcasting in 2021. He is currently the most-followed streamer on the platform, with more than 21 million followers, and has hosted large-scale events including multi-day subathons and Streamer University. In late September 2026 he livestreamed from inside ĂžrĂhnĂşkagĂgur, a dormant volcano in Iceland, an outing his team described as part of an “Exploring the Unexplored” series.
No spaceflight provider, training organization, or government agency has publicly confirmed any agreement with Cenat. Commercial seats on vehicles operated by companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin have become available to private passengers in recent years, though selection, medical clearance, and launch schedules remain controlled by the operators. Cenat has not named specific partners or a target vehicle in the October 8 remarks.
Clips of the stream drew mixed responses online, with some viewers treating the comments as continuation of Cenat’s pattern of ambitious location-based broadcasts and others noting that astronauts and the International Space Station already transmit video from orbit. As of October 9, 2026, Cenat had not issued a follow-up statement clarifying timelines or contracts beyond the livestream comments.
