According to Chatham County Police Department officers, the video recording from the residence located on the 9000 block of Whitefield Avenue reveals that the suspect enters the backyard at around 2:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. During his visit, the suspect swims in the pool and then goes to the hot tub. According to the police, the suspect gets “infatuated” with a rubber duck and interacts with the object for more than ten minutes. It should be noted that some news outlets, having analyzed the available images, claim that certain parts of the video recording appear to demonstrate mouth contact with the toy.
Before leaving, the suspect took six luxury beach towels valued at roughly $1,200 total and fled on a bicycle. In a public Facebook post that sparked widespread coverage, police summarized the events this way:
