A clip showing streamer Sneako gambling alongside DJ Akademiks has made the rounds on social media after being posted by Akademiks’ updates account, drawing a swift response from the controversial content creator and reigniting questions about consistency in online personalities’ public stances.
On Tuesday evening, the @AkademiksTV account shared a brief video of the two men together in a gambling setting, captioning it simply: “Footage of Sneako gambling with Big Ak surfaces. Footage is from after Sneako turned muslim.” The post quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of views as it spread across X.
Sneako, born Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, publicly embraced Islam in early-to-mid 2023 and has since positioned himself as a vocal critic of Muslim creators who promote or participate in gambling online. He has repeatedly argued that such activity, especially when done for sponsorship money in front of young audiences, normalizes behavior considered forbidden under Islamic guidelines. The newly circulated clip, widely described by those close to the situation as dating to around 2023 and captured privately rather than during a stream, appears to show Sneako participating in the very activity he has called out in others.
In responses that surfaced Wednesday, Sneako pushed back hard. He questioned Akademiks’ motives, asking what he had done to provoke the post and why the veteran media personality seemed so intent on sharing the old footage. Sneako characterized the move as the work of a “weirdo,” suggesting the video may have been recorded on the sly and saved for later use. Quoting the original post on his own account, he wrote, “With friends like Akademiks who needs enemies?” He dismissed the clip’s potential to damage him, calling the material “weak dirt,” and framed the episode as a classic attempt to attack character when arguments fall short.
The timing is notable. Sneako has spent recent weeks criticizing other Muslim-identifying streamers over gambling deals, and the two men already shared a complicated history of joint streams, phone conversations and occasional friction. Reports of Sneako floating a potential boxing match involving Akademiks only added another layer to the tension.
Online reaction split along familiar lines. Some observers labeled Sneako hypocritical for the apparent contradiction. Others called the resurfacing of a years-old private moment petty, especially given how openly many streamers promote gambling platforms for pay. Voices in the conversation, including high-profile figures, pointed out that Sneako has largely steered clear of the sponsored gambling content that has become common among his peers.
As of Wednesday morning, neither side had issued a lengthy formal statement beyond the original post and Sneako’s direct responses. The episode joins a growing list of flashpoints in the streaming world where personal history, religious identity and interpersonal score-settling collide in real time.
