From what was thought to have been a brief romance in Miami-Dade County, which was sparked by their interaction in restaurants, has now become a police investigation after 19-year-old Nathalie Rodriguez Gonzalez found out her boyfriend was actually married.
As stated in the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrest report obtained by Local 10, Gonzalez met the unidentified man when she worked as a waitress. The two met for some dates and developed a relationship. However, she found out later that he was actually married. It is reported that she sent a number of threatening texts requesting $20,000, and adding $5,000 to this amount for delay in making the payments.
She allegedly threatened to send intimate photographs to his girlfriend and business partner and to post them on social media, including Instagram and TikTok. Messages cited in the report include
“Give me my money or I will escalate this worse,” “This will genuinely get posted if he doesn’t wire me money btw,” and “The deportation does not have to happen, but I want my money.”
In a separate exchange with others, she wrote,
“Remember I was tryna scam him, I’m finally getting to it,”
language investigators viewed as evidence of a financial motive.
Authorities say Gonzalez followed through in part by sending photos to the business partner and the girlfriend and by posting censored versions on TikTok while continuing to demand payment. The man refused to pay, documented the messages, and reported the matter to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Kendall District station on August 24, 2026. He identified her in a photograph. Deputies arrested Gonzalez at her home on the evening of August 28. After being read her rights, she gave what the report described as a full confession but claimed she was “simply joking” about sending the photographs.
She was charged with threats/extortion, a felony, and held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond. She was later released after posting bond. A court date was scheduled for October 27, 2026. The charge can carry up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine under Florida law, though an arrest is not a conviction and she remains presumed innocent as the case proceeds.
