Florida Man Barber Assault: Suspect Arrested Over Hairline Dispute

A Miami-Dade barber says he is still recovering emotionally after a longtime customer allegedly came back to his shop with a gun and attacked him over a haircut on Nov. 25, 2025. The incident, which was captured on surveillance video, has since gone viral and sparked widespread outrage online.

According to police and court records, 48-year-old Darious Dwayne Davis is accused of assaulting barber Samuel Wilson inside Wilson’s shop, Square Biz (also known as Square Cutz in some reports), located in the Perrine area of unincorporated Miami-Dade County.

Wilson told investigators that Davis became upset during his haircut, accusing him of pushing his hairline back too far. After arguing, Davis left the shop but allegedly returned minutes later with a handgun.

Surveillance footage shows Davis pointing the weapon at Wilson, threatening him, and striking him in the head. The attack happened in front of several customers, including children, who could be seen panicking and ducking for cover during the assault.

Wilson suffered bruising and cuts but was not shot, authorities say. No other customers were injured.

“It was devastating,” Wilson said in a local news interview. “People bring their kids here. Nobody expects something like this to happen.”

Davis fled the barbershop but was arrested three days later, on November 28, after investigators identified him from the video. He was booked into the Metrowest Detention Center and is now facing multiple felony charges, including:

  • Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
  • Use of a gun in the commission of a felony
  • Improper exhibition of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Davis has pleaded not guilty and is currently under house arrest while awaiting trial, according to the latest court records.

Court documents show Davis has a lengthy criminal history, including prior convictions for drug possession, armed robbery, and burglary with assault dating back to the 1990s. Due to his record, he is legally prohibited from owning a firearm.

The surveillance video was widely shared online after being posted by the Miami-based account Only in Dade. It was then reposted by major social media pages and quickly gained millions of views.

Online reactions ranged from shock to concern about gun violence in everyday settings. Others used dark humor to comment on the hairline dispute, turning the moment into a wave of memes.

Wilson, who has owned Square Biz for years, says the attack has changed how he runs his business. He has added new safety measures, including locking the front door after each customer enters.

Still, he says he has no intention of closing the shop.

“This is my livelihood,” he said. “I’m staying right here.”

The case remains under investigation, and no trial date has been set.
