In a now-viral clip, the singer is seen taking a fan’s Android phone during the show before handing it back without taking a photo. Seconds later, she accepts an iPhone from another fan and poses for a selfie, prompting the video’s creator to accuse her of “brand discrimination” in on-screen captions.
However, fans who attended the concert — and others who have revisited the footage — say the interaction isn’t as dramatic as it’s being portrayed.
According to several concertgoers, the Android device was passed to Lipa with the camera app closed, leaving her little time to unlock or navigate the interface while keeping up with the choreography. Many suggested she simply didn’t know how to access the camera mid-performance and returned the phone to avoid fumbling with it onstage.
“She clearly couldn’t get the camera open,” one fan commented. “It wasn’t a snub — she just didn’t have time.”
Others noted that navigating unfamiliar devices during a live show can be difficult, especially when the singer receives multiple phones in quick succession.
Adding to the conversation is Lipa’s ongoing partnership with Apple. The collaboration has fueled speculation — though unconfirmed — that sponsorship guidelines may discourage her from being photographed using competing devices.
Still, despite jokes and light teasing online, many fans have been quick to shut down any narrative that the pop star intentionally avoided taking a photo with an Android user.
