Drake appears to be putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album Iceman in a familiar setting: the nightclub.
A short video that surfaced online this week shows the rapper’s OVO crew setting up professional recording equipment inside Houston strip club Area 29. In the clip, microphones, mixers and cables are visible in a VIP section as dancers perform under neon lights, while voices off-camera can be heard joking and confirming that music is actively being recorded.
Though Drake himself is not clearly seen, the scene suggests he was present during the session. The video quickly gained traction across social media, with fans pointing to it as evidence that Iceman is nearing completion.
The Houston recording session follows recent comments Drake made during a Kick livestream in late December, where he referred to his current run of sessions as his “last recording trip” and said he was focused on finishing the project. The remarks fueled speculation that Iceman could arrive sometime in 2026, though no official release date has been announced.
Iceman is expected to be Drake’s ninth solo studio album and his first full-length solo release since 2023’s For All the Dogs. The project has been teased since mid-2024 through a series of livestreams and loose singles, including “What Did I Miss?”, “Which One” featuring Central Cee, and “Dog House” with Yeat and Julia Wolf. The album follows a highly publicized year for Drake, which included multiple diss records released during his feud with Kendrick Lamar.
Recording inside a strip club is not new territory for the Toronto rapper. Drake has long been associated with Houston’s nightlife scene and has frequently shouted out the city in his music and collaborations. He previously filmed parts of his 2016 “Childs Play” video inside a Houston strip club, a visual that underscored his preference for blending nightlife settings with his creative process.
The latest footage has drawn mixed reactions online, with fans praising the immersive approach and critics questioning the spectacle. Still, the clip has reignited anticipation for Iceman, which Drake has framed as a focused, final stretch of recording following one of the most scrutinized periods of his career.
