Butterfly Feels new single “Quit That Job” is about will and perseverance

Alternative R&B singer-songwriter Butterfly Feels recently released the single “Quit That Job.” Here, the singer tells a story wrapped in an atmospheric, dreamy production.

Butterfly Feels tenderly and dreamily about following your heart, heeding your life’s purpose with a gentle reminder to go for whatever it is you wish to do, forsaking all the people, places, and things holding you back.

“Life is too short to wait any longer,” says Butterfly Feels. And the R&B-flavored production provides enough texture to elevate the soft synths and string arrangements to soaring heights.

Butterfly Feels had a conversation with us and answered our distinctive 8 Questions. Check it out below.

HYPEFRESH: So tell us, how did it all begin? What encouraged you to start playing and making music?

Butterfly Feels: I’ve been singing and writing songs for as long as I can remember. When words alone fail, melodies are the magic that brings my thoughts to life. I feel most comfortable and confident expressing myself through music.

Growing up, my dad would DJ in the house on Friday nights; those are some of my favorite memories when he would fill the house with music from the latest and greatest from all genres and decades.

My dad has an exceptional musical taste and an excellent ear for blending; he passed that down to me. I lean towards a more Hip Hop and R&B feel, but you can hear the influence of many genres and artists in my music when you vibe out. Some artists that influence me most are Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, Beyonce, Destiney’s Child, Rihanna, TLC, and so many more.

HYPEFRESH: Talk me through your creative process when you write new music.

Butterfly Feels: Writing new songs is an effortless experience for me. The words flow easily when I give in to my feelings and express myself unabashedly. Usually, I just need to get in my zen mental state where I allow myself to feel and think whatever I want; that’s where the best, rawest, and most unapologetic songs are made. I try to write constantly, whether I’m updating my website, making thoughtful social posts, or creating new music. Always writing is key!

HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, Quit That Job?

Butterfly Feels: I wrote, “Quit That Job” around the first anniversary of quitting the corporate world and stepping into bringing my dream world to reality. We all get conditioned into thinking that living your life one way is key to abundance and success, but that narrative is a lie. Everything isn’t for everyone. We all have a purpose and a journey that is meant just for us and no one else; we owe ourselves the opportunity to find that journey and live on that path.

“Quit That Job” is a reminder that life is too short to make promises about tomorrow; tomorrow is never promised. We must live more in the moment and appreciate our authentic story in the NOW. When you think about life as just this second, you realize the most important things and what’s holding you back or tying you down. All the people, places, and things that aren’t contributing to your happiness are “jobs”; quit those jobs.

HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?

Butterfly Feels: I love connecting with people and inspiring people to love and be themselves. All my music is about loving yourself, trusting yourself, and living your truth. The world gives us a lot of judgment and influence on who and how we should be. I want to provide you peace, affirm your dreams, and increase your confidence or keep it high if you already know you’re that girl. My music makes you feel good right now; that’s key!

HYPEFRESH: What projects do you have coming up? Can you give us any info on them?

Butterfly Feels: I have so much unreleased music waiting to be recorded. My latest project, my debut EP, Butterfly Summer, is still blossoming. I feel like I’m in a great position to continue to release with intention.

I’m currently premiering the visual series on YouTube. I’ve dropped episodes 1 – 3, “Prove It,” “Top Down,” and “Leavin'” so far. I still have two episodes left, “Party” and “Butterflies.” I’m excited for everyone to see how the series unfolds.

For now, you can listen to Butterfly Summer wherever you download/stream music, or you can go to my website butterflyfeels.com and get a download or a signed copy directly from me.

HYPEFRESH: Got any advice for readers trying to get into music?

Butterfly Feels: Be yourself. No version of you is better than you. I love what you do. Be passionate and committed to yourself and your journey. Learn as much as you can about what you love. Practice a lot, and create with no limits.

HYPEFRESH: How do you solve productivity/scheduling problems and reduce overwhelming situations?

Butterfly Feels: For creation, I live in the moment. I don’t pressure myself with schedules and deadlines because they can permanently be moved around if that needs to be done. I care more about the quality of what I’m creating than anything else. Music is forever.

Once you release something, that’s the first representation of that workout in the world forever. After I have my creation and we’re in the release and marketing phase, I stick to schedules and plans for the business side of things.

HYPEFRESH: Name Three things you can’t live without when recording in the studio.

Butterfly Feels:

1.) My producer and engineer, NOR KIN4LIFE

2.) Tea

3.) Water
