BigXthaPlug Details Fitness Journey to Dispel Ozempic & BBL Rumors

BigXthaPlug is getting ahead of the internet chatter.

The Dallas rapper announced on Tuesday (Jan. 6) that he plans to document his upcoming weight loss and fitness journey, joking that he wants to preempt accusations that any physical transformation is the result of using Ozempic or undergoing cosmetic surgery. The announcement was made via a short video shared by the hip-hop media outlet My Mixtapez, which quickly circulated across social media platforms.

In the clip, filmed inside a car, BigXthaPlug speaks directly to the camera in a relaxed, humorous tone. “I’m finna start showin’ my fitness journey,” he says. “’Cause I know when I lose this weight, y’all gon’ say I’m on Ozempic or I got a BBL or some sh*t.” He adds that he plans to show “the hard work, the grind, the sweat,” emphasizing that there will be “no shortcuts.”

While lighthearted, the message also touches on health. “Health is wealth,” he says in the video, explaining that the decision is about doing what’s best for himself and his family.

The post drew tens of thousands of views within hours, along with a flood of replies that mixed encouragement with jokes—many centered on the rapper’s name. Fans playfully suggested that if he reaches his goals, he may no longer qualify for the “Big” in BigXthaPlug, a moniker that references both his physical stature and his role as a “plug” in street lore.

The conversation reflects a broader cultural moment, as celebrity weight loss is increasingly scrutinized amid the popularity of Ozempic and other GLP-1 agonist medications. Originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes, the drug became widely associated with rapid weight loss in the early 2020s. A 2023 JAMA study found that patients using semaglutide lost an average of roughly 15% of their body weight, fueling ongoing debates about authenticity, access, and health in high-profile transformations.

BigXthaPlug’s decision to document his progress reflects a broader shift toward preemptive transparency, especially within hip-hop. Artists, including Fat Joe and Jelly Roll, have openly discussed major weight loss journeys in recent years, while others have faced persistent rumors over alleged pharmaceutical or surgical assistance.

Unlike many artists starting fitness journeys later in life, BigXthaPlug has an athletic background. He was a standout offensive lineman at Ferris High School in Texas, playing at roughly 6’2″ and 315 pounds and drawing Division I interest before briefly enrolling at Crown College in Minnesota in 2016. That experience gives him familiarity with structured training and discipline, which he has referenced in past discussions about health.

The rapper has also previously acknowledged that lifestyle factors play a role. During a 2024 appearance on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, he said consistent partying and drinking posed a bigger threat to his health than his weight alone.

BigXthaPlug’s brand has long leaned into his imposing presence—something reflected in both his stage name and lyrics—but he appears aware that any physical change could invite scrutiny. By documenting his fitness journey from the outset, he’s aiming to control the narrative rather than respond to rumors after they surface.

The Dallas native, whose booming delivery and Southern drawl have helped him break through with songs like “Texas,” “Levels” and “Mmhmm,” has built a loyal following by leaning into authenticity and Texas pride. His 2023 project AMAR marked a significant step forward in his career, and he has continued to rise as one of the region’s most visible new voices.

Whether his fitness updates become a regular series or occasional check-ins, BigXthaPlug has made his intentions clear: if the weight comes off, he wants fans to see exactly how it happens.
