Japanese adult film actress Hana Kuraki was found dead on Saturday in an apartment in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district, according to multiple reports. She was 25.
A friend of Kuraki discovered her body at the residence and contacted Sakito, a Kabukicho host club owner and BreakingDown fighter who operates S PiDA. Sakito went to the apartment, spoke with Tokyo Metropolitan Police officers and detectives, and later confirmed the death in a detailed post on X.
“I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hana Kuraki. I offer my sincere condolences,” Sakito wrote. He stressed that he was not the first to find her and urged people to avoid spreading misinformation or speculation that could harm the deceased or those close to her.
Police and Kuraki’s management agency have not released an official statement on the cause of death. Online reports and social media discussion have described it as a suspected or apparent suicide. Sakito noted that Kuraki had previously confided in him about difficulties in her personal relationship.
The apartment was rented under the name of Shota Taira, a prominent host associated with the L’s Collection group in Kabukicho, according to Sakito’s account reported by Tokyo Reporter. When Sakito telephoned Taira to inform him of the situation, Taira replied that he had a meeting and would arrive about two hours later, leaving Sakito to handle the initial police response.
Kuraki, born Aug. 7, 2001, in Kanagawa Prefecture, debuted as an exclusive actress for the major adult video label S1 in May 2024 under the agency T-POWERS. Before entering the industry she attended beauty school and worked as a hair and makeup assistant. She released a photobook titled “Flower,” built a following through social media and work with S1, and had been scheduled to appear at an adult entertainment expo in Taiwan later in 2026.
In June 2026 she announced a hiatus from work after sustaining injuries to her face and jaw that she attributed to a traffic accident. “I’ve decided to take a break for a while, so I’ll be suspending activities for a certain period,” she posted on X at the time. Online allegations later claimed the injuries resulted from an incident involving Taira and his vehicle, but neither police nor her agency has confirmed those claims.
Social media and some reports have also circulated unconfirmed accounts of prior domestic disputes, an alleged break-in and theft in late 2025, an out-of-court settlement, and related threats. Sakito wrote that Kuraki had often appeared distressed when discussing her relationship and expressed regret that he had not been able to do more to help. He added that he hoped for “a world free of people who use violence to control others or drive them to such desperate straits.”
Taira, described in reports as a former idol and one of the top earners in his host group in 2025, has not issued a public statement addressing the death or the allegations. No charges related to Kuraki’s death have been announced.
Kabukicho is Tokyo’s well-known nightlife and red-light district in Shinjuku ward, dense with host clubs, bars and adult entertainment venues. The host club industry has faced ongoing scrutiny over practices involving high spending, debt and interpersonal control, including regulatory updates in recent years.
As of Monday, authorities had not publicly detailed the circumstances of Kuraki’s death beyond confirming the discovery and the ongoing handling of the case. Her agency and family have not released further statements.
