Adin Ross Calls it Quits: Officially Retiring from Gambling

Surprisingly on October 16, 2024, popular streamer Adin Ross revealed that he is stepping away from gambling, a major part of his streaming career. During his live stream on Kick, Ross explained that gambling was holding him back and that he plans to shift his focus toward creating more meaningful content. This move is a significant turning point for one of the most-watched streams in a career closely associated with high-stakes betting over the past few years.

Adin Ross cleared the air on why he had to retire from gambling, reflecting on how the gambling that was once supposed to be a core element in his streams became an included constructive obstacle in his career.

“I’m not being held back anymore,”

he said during the stream. He emphasized a desire now to invest more in his content, to take money he was spending gambling and put it into better, new projects.

“Why am I putting $1 million into a slot machine instead of $1 million into content? That million dollars could literally make me millions,”

he said.

Ross also explained that it was not all about the money, for he had a different outlook on his future as a content creator. He mentioned returning to his old project of Brand Risk Promotions and teased new things with sets and events and working with his management team. At his peak, gambling streams brought Ross quite a pretty penny: reportedly earning up to $1 million weekly from gambling sponsors. He became one of the more known figures in the gambling scene on Twitch prior to his ban, then continued to build up a following into his transfer to Kick with his high-stakes betting content.

This success was not, however, without its negative sides.

Indeed, one of the most notorious moments saw Ross lose $15 million in one single night, a staggering amount that left both his fans and fellow streamers alike aghast. Counted among other heavy losses, this turned out to be one of the decisive moments for his eventual retirement from gambling. His career had also suffered several other major losses-a $2 million loss in one game of blackjack among them-that fueled his growing frustration with the lifestyle.

In the same broadcast on October 16, Ross reassured his followers and made them understand that as much as gambling might have taken center stage previously, it was something he had a lot of excitement to explore and venture into. He explained that this was to be done by diversifying his content and bringing newer ideas into his streams. The resurrection of Brand Risk Promotions will thus kick-start this new chapter with more investment in value properties and large-scale events.

He said gambling streams might pop up from time to time, but they are no longer the main focus of his streams.

“There’s no point for me to literally just sit here and do this,”

he said, firmly signaling this change is part of a broader rebrand.

Fellow streamer Kai Cenat, a close friend of Ross, advised him to rebrand and move away from gambling earlier this year. Further, Cenat said Ross needed to “restart or rebrand his whole community” to get rid of the negative influences of his streams and move his content in a different direction. So, it appears his quitting of gambling has followed that advice.

The fans are torn with chatters of praise for Ross, who is considered to be focused on more creative pursuits, and disappointment, as his streams were filled with adrenaline. As for the other streamers’ reactions to this news, it has been very supportive within the community, and this was even seen as a positive step towards his long-term career.

There has also been speculation about how this decision might affect Kick, the streaming platform Ross now calls home, which has been rumored to have ties to online casino Stake.

Adin Ross’s retirement from gambling is a momentous point to hit both his career and the wider gaming and streaming communities. Moving away from the consumption of gambling could, in return, make other streamers reconsider their focus on such possibly controversial content.
