According to NBC entertainment, Travis Scott is currently in talks to perform at the NFL super-bowl halftime show this year with Maroon 5.
In addition to this news, NBC also states that Travis will headline the Pepsi pre-show for the Superbowl.  Travis Scott is having a really good year, between Astroworld being number one of the Billboard charts for months and his major grammy nominations.
While it is respectable that Travis is getting his deserved shine, this news does bring up a greater issue that surrounds the NFL. Since Colin Kapernick refused to stand for the national anthem, the NFL has cracked down on Black Lives Matter related to protests. Yet, they are still willing to use black art and black artists to get views for the halftime show. The NFL will use black artists and athletes, however, the term “black lives matter” is controversial?
Other artists, like Jay-Z and Rihanna, have refused to do the Superbowl halftime show. Travis Scott should do the same. Since, the NFL has shown that it does not care about black people, it should not get to use black art.
Do you think that Travis Scott should perform at the super-bowl?
