Burglar Recognizes Star Wars Actor Hayden Christensen Mid-Robbery and Returns Stolen Items

Recently, Hayden Christensen recounted what might possibly be the most bizarre experience a celebrity can ever have. While burgling him, an intruder realized that Christensen was Anakin Skywalker, apologized, and gave all the items back.

Christensen told the story firsthand during his Spotlight Panel at L.A. Comic Con on October 30, 2026. He did so in response to the question of his funniest fan experiences. Several sources that covered Christensen’s panel discussion, such as The Nerd Wire at the venue itself as well as Dexerto, Complex, and IGN in their reports, reported the same incident.

A while back, Christensen was alone at home on the phone awaiting a friend. Suddenly, he heard the door open and steps going up to the second floor. Not thinking much of it, he decided not to run downstairs immediately. He actually danced around a walk-around fireplace with the person who invaded his home in a do-si-do.

When he finally went to surprise the visitor, the scene stopped him cold.

“I’m like, is this a delivery guy? And I look and I’m like, this is all my stuff,”

Christensen recalled.

The stranger was carrying an armful of the actor’s possessions. Suddenly the stranger caught his eye, recognized whose house he had entered, and everything changed. He identified Christensen as the Star Wars actor who played Anakin Skywalker, later Darth Vader. His apologies kept coming. Everything was handed back.

The stranger admitted that he was down on his luck financially. He needed cash for a train ride back home and could not secure job interviews since he didn’t have any proper clothes to wear. It shocked everybody when they heard the story of how Christensen reacted to such a situation. Not only did he not call the police, but he also let the stranger go up to his room, give him some clothes and shoes, and drive him to the train station the following day. The stranger never showed up for the ride.

Christensen concluded his story with a dry joke to the Comic Con crowd:

“Do not try burglarizing my house again, guys. I’ve got very good cameras here.”

It carries even greater significance given the longstanding connection between Christensen and the most famous character in film history. He played the part of Anakin in “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith,” and then again in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Ahsoka.” Being able to identify the future Darth Vader during a robbery is definitely a memorable element of the plot.
