Pennsylvania Mother Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Husband and 3-Year-Old Son at Great Wolf Lodge

A 27-year-old Pennsylvania mother is facing two counts of criminal homicide after police say she fatally stabbed her husband and their 3-year-old son inside a guest room at the Great Wolf Lodge resort in the Pocono Mountains.

Metallica Rose Harrison, of Towanda, was arrested Monday, October 12, 2026, following a 911 call from Room 2030 at the popular family waterpark resort in Pocono Township, Monroe County. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Harrison told the dispatcher she needed “help dying” and that her husband and son were “already gone.”

Pocono Township police arrived around 3:13 p.m. and found Harrison with cuts on her left wrist and superficial puncture wounds on her neck. She told officers she wanted to be with her husband and son. Inside the room, officers discovered Charles “Chaz” Harrison, 36, and the couple’s 3-year-old son dead on separate mattresses on the floor. Charles had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest; the boy had a single stab wound to the chest. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two knives with teal-green handles were recovered from the bathroom. Resort staff confirmed the knives did not match cutlery used at Great Wolf Lodge. Medication bottles and containers with suspected blood were also found in the room.

Harrison was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital-Monroe Campus for treatment of her injuries. While en route, she made several statements to an accompanying officer, including “I fucked up, I fucked up,” “I just needed energy and strength,” and remarks about trying to be the best mother and wife, adding that “it wasn’t supposed to end like this.” She also referenced suicide and “next time.”

Harrison was charged with two counts of criminal homicide. She was arraigned Tuesday, October 13, before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge, who denied bail. She is being held at the Monroe County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 21.

Court records identify the child only by the initials T.H. Relatives have identified him as Tristan Harrison.

The family had been staying at the resort since September 21 and extended their reservation on October 5, with a scheduled checkout of October 13. Surveillance video showed the three last entering the room together around 7 p.m. on October 11. Later that night, Harrison and her husband briefly left for the arcade before returning around 11:22 p.m. They did not leave the room again.

Charles Harrison’s mother, Ann Harrison, and sister, Melissa Rivera, told investigators the relationship was “dominant” and “controlling.” They said the family had been isolated from Charles and the child for the past three years. Rivera told police that Metallica had expressed resentment toward the child, saying she “never wanted to get pregnant” and that the boy took away one-on-one time with her husband.

Investigators later searched the family’s home in Towanda, seizing journals, a laptop, financial records, a toddler’s daily activity book, and additional teal-handled knives. Police are examining financial records in part to understand the family’s unusually long stay at the resort.

Great Wolf Resorts issued a statement saying the company is “deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains.”

Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso described the motive as “one of the most perplexing questions.” Autopsies were scheduled later in the week.

The case remains under investigation.
