A set of maternity photos of a pregnant Jack Russell terrier has circulated widely again after Complex shared them on Friday, drawing hundreds of likes and comments within hours.
The images show Khloe, a Jack Russell terrier, posed against pink fluffy backdrops with floral accessories, ribbons and soft lighting. In one shot she sits upright, her rounded belly prominent. In another she rests on her back with eyes closed, the pregnancy details clearly visible amid pink and white flowers.
The photos originated in early 2021 when Khloe’s owner, animal photographer Caitlin Snyman of Kentucky, arranged the session to mark the dog’s first pregnancy. Snyman, then 26, said she wanted to do something special for Khloe ahead of the birth of her litter of four puppies. The shoot took place at home and lasted several hours.
Snyman posted the images on social media under the account @khloethejackrussell, where they first gained attention. Pet owners praised the idea of treating a dog’s pregnancy with the same care often given to human maternity portraits. The pictures resurfaced periodically in the years that followed and drew fresh attention this week after Complex highlighted them.
Reactions to the latest share mixed affection with mild criticism. Some commenters called the photos adorable and noted the closed-eye pose in particular. Others described the human-style treatment as excessive. Engagement on the Complex post climbed past 800 likes and 50 reposts by midday Friday.
Khloe later delivered her puppies and continued to appear on the Instagram account that carries her name. Snyman has remained active as a photographer and has since been involved with equestrian publications while living in Versailles, Kentucky.
The images continue to circulate because they capture a simple, deliberate gesture: an owner deciding her dog’s pregnancy deserved formal celebration. Five years later, the same pictures still prompt both smiles and debate about how far pet parents should go.
