Detroit rapper Teejayx6, whose legal name is Dallas Antoino Asberry, has been the subject of social media reports claiming he was recently arrested and faces multiple charges that include animal torture, reckless driving, gang-related offenses, making false reports, and driving with a suspended license.
The reports originated with the No Jumper X post from August 5, 2026. The post described the arrest as “reportedly” occurring and included a promotional photo of the rapper alongside what appears to be a booking photograph. Similar claims quickly circulated on Instagram and other platforms, often repeating the same list of alleged charges without additional documentation.
As of August 6, 2026, no official confirmation has been issued by the Detroit Police Department’s official site, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s official office page, or any Michigan court records that are publicly searchable. No charging documents, case numbers, arrest dates, or specific incident details have been released by law enforcement. Mainstream local news outlets in Detroit have not reported the story.
Asberry, born August 28, 2001, in Detroit, rose to online prominence in 2019 as a pioneer of scam rap, a style that details credit-card fraud, identity theft, and other online schemes. His breakout track “Dark Web” and the mixtape Fraudulent Activity drew attention for their explicit instructional lyrics, according to a 2019 Pitchfork profile titled “Teejayx6 Will Teach You How to Scam” and Stereogum’s contemporaneous Fraudulent Activity column. He has released several projects since, including the Black Air Force Activity series and collaborations with artists such as NLE Choppa. He has also appeared in HBO’s Generation Hustle documentary series.
In July 2019, Asberry was briefly detained onstage during his first live performance in Los Angeles by men wearing U.S. Marshals jackets. He later described the incident as a promotional stunt in interviews with Pitchfork. In those conversations and on his No Jumper podcast appearance “Teejayx6 Tells All” around the same period, he maintained that his lyrics were entertainment and that authorities would find no evidence of actual crimes. He has said he stopped engaging in scams once his music career took off.
A separate viral claim in March 2026 that Asberry had been killed in a Detroit shooting was quickly debunked. No official records supported the report, which originated from an account previously known for spreading false information about rappers.
