Sidney Favors, the transgender model and reality television personality better known as Sidney Starr, was arrested Sunday at an Embassy Suites hotel in Hapeville, Georgia, and charged with three felony sex offenses involving a juvenile, according to the Hapeville Police Department and Fulton County Jail records.
Favors, 37, faces charges of aggravated child molestation, sexual battery against a child under 16, and sodomy, as detailed by CBS Atlanta. She is being held without bond at the Fulton County Jail. The case has been turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Hapeville officers arrested Favors on August 2 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in the 3400 block of International Boulevard, near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Police said the investigation began after an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile at the hotel was reported, as confirmed by Atlanta News First.
Arrest warrants reviewed by multiple news outlets state that Favors allegedly told investigators he performed oral sex on a boy at the hotel on Sunday morning and described the encounter as consensual. Because the case involves a juvenile, the Hapeville Police Department has declined to release further details.
“Because this case involves a juvenile, no additional information will be released from our agency,”
the department said in a statement.
Favors is scheduled to appear in court on August 25, according to court records. He remains in custody as the case proceeds through the Fulton County Superior Court system.
Born Sidney Favors on February 5, 1989, in Chicago, Starr has lived in Atlanta and built a public career as a model, social media personality, and reality television cast member. Starr appeared on season nine of VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” Zeus Network’s “Baddies ATL,” “Atlanta Plastic,” and had roles in “Empire” and “Boomerang.” Starr previously drew attention in 2010 for falsely claiming a romantic relationship with rapper Chingy, a claim later admitted as fabricated and for which Starr apologized.
Starr’s mother, Stephanie Favors, told TMZ the allegations are completely out of character and said she does not believe her daughter would engage in sexual activity with a minor. Stephanie Favors said her daughter was in Georgia for a professional booking connected to the “Industry Girl” TV series reunion event and that she had not spoken with her since the arrest. She said she stands firmly behind her daughter.
A representative for Starr declined to comment when contacted by one of Hypefresh’s correspondents. Jail records classify Favors as male. These remain allegations, and Favors is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Under Georgia law, aggravated child molestation carries a potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison. The investigation continues under the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.
