Mickey and Jo-Ann Muhlestein have turned a daily fast-food ritual into the backdrop for one of the most charming milestone celebrations in recent memory.
The 81-year-old couple, married for 60 years, renewed their wedding vows inside their favorite Taco Bell location on Saturday, June 21, 2026 — the very spot where they’ve shared lunch together every single day for the past 12 years.
The ceremony, held at the restaurant on 5600 West, featured family, friends, and longtime Taco Bell staff, many of whom the Muhlesteins now consider extended family. Taco Bell Area Coach Miguelina Mueses officiated the emotional event, which included their eight children, grandchildren, and a ring presentation by one of their grandsons.
Mickey and Jo-Ann, who originally wed at age 21, have made the Taco Bell a cornerstone of their relationship. Mickey typically opts for Taco Supremes, while Jo-Ann enjoys sampling various menu items. What started as a convenient lunch stop became a beloved daily date, reinforcing their bond through consistency and simple joys.
During the vow renewal, Mickey delivered a heartfelt message laced with Taco Bell flair: “Growing old with you has been the greatest gift to my life. I will love you every day that God blessedly grants us together.” He added with a smile, “Mild, hot, on fire, our love has been strong enough to survive every twist, and not just cinnamon.”
Jo-Ann responded in kind: “I promise you that no matter what happens, I will never let go in our aging years. I love you.”

Their daughter Amy captured the sentiment shared by many in attendance, saying through tears, “I just wish that everyone can have that and find that in life, to have that kind of love for each other and commitment and just being there for each other through hard times and good times.”
In recognition of the couple’s remarkable loyalty and the special occasion, Taco Bell surprised Mickey and Jo-Ann with free lunches for life at their local restaurant — a fitting reward that ensures their daily tradition can continue uninterrupted.

The story has captured national attention in recent days, with coverage from outlets including ABC News and Good Morning America, resonating as a feel-good tale of enduring love, community, and the power of everyday rituals. In an era of grand gestures, the Muhlesteins prove that sometimes the strongest commitments are built one shared meal at a time. 🌮❤️
