Cardi B took to Instagram Live on Monday (April 6) to call out four men she says stole her American Express card and racked up tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges before the card was shut down.
In a fiery, unfiltered session that quickly went viral across social media platforms, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper detailed how the theft unfolded roughly two weeks after the card went missing from her purse. She emphasized her tight monitoring of finances, noting that every transaction on her Amex triggers instant notifications to both her phone and her accountant’s.
“So why I see a purchase, like a $40,000 purchase from Saks for my Amex,” Cardi recounted during the Live. “35 minutes passed and then there was a $20,000 purchase on Apple right away. I already knew it wasn’t no Juan it wasn’t no nothing — some weird shit was happening.”
She added that her accountant called her immediately upon spotting the suspicious activity: “She was like, yeah some funny activities is going on.” The team promptly canceled the card and contacted the stores involved. An attempted cash withdrawal at a Chase location was also made but failed, as cash advances are not permitted on the card.
Cardi claimed she has clear surveillance footage and photos from Saks Fifth Avenue, the Apple Store and the Chase attempt, identifying the four individuals. She described their appearances in detail, saying one was bald-headed with a thick beard, another appeared to be in his early 20s with curly black hair, one wore a gray/silver jacket and had a stomach, and another was short and bald with a beard. She noted they gave off a “Dominican like… Middle Eastern look” to her.
Directly addressing the alleged thieves, she declared, “Y’all look a wrap… Let me tell you something. Y’all are going to jail. Y’all going to jail by the end of the week. Yeah, I got clear pictures of y’all bitch clear clear in all three locations.”
She continued, “You know Cardi B. Don’t fucking play about that bread. You know, I don’t play about my money, right? One thing about me — I don’t play about my fucking money.”
Clips from the Instagram Live spread rapidly on Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads, drawing reactions from fans who noted Cardi’s well-known protectiveness over her finances and her history of pursuing legal matters aggressively. Many online called the alleged perpetrators “the dumbest mfs alive” for targeting someone so publicly vigilant about her money.

American Express generally provides strong zero-liability protection for unauthorized charges when they are disputed promptly, meaning the “WAP” rapper is unlikely to be financially responsible for the fraudulent transactions totaling close to $60,000–$70,000.
