Golf superstar Tiger Woods is in trouble once again following a one-car rollover crash on Friday afternoon near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida.
The accident took place around 2 p.m. on a quiet two-lane suburban road near the golfer’s residence. Woods, who is now 50 years old, was driving his Land Rover SUV at a pretty fast speed while trying to pass a pickup truck that was slowing down to make a turn into a driveway while towing a trailer carrying a pressure cleaner. Woods hit the back of the trailer and lost control of the vehicle, which rolled onto its driver’s side.
Woods managed to crawl out through the passenger door. Thankfully, neither he nor the driver of the truck were seriously hurt, though both vehicles took some damage.

Jupiter Island police deputies were the first to arrive and called investigators from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office who specialize in DUI cases. According to the sheriff, John Budensiek, Woods was “lethargic” when they arrived at the scene. There were signs of impairment, and he did not pass the field tests.
Jupiter Island police deputies arrived first and brought in investigators from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office who handle DUI cases. Sheriff John Budensiek told reporters that Woods seemed “lethargic” at the scene. Officers said there were clear signs of impairment, and he failed the field sobriety tests.
He was arrested right there and charged with three misdemeanors: DUI with property damage, refusal to submit to a lawful test, and property damage. Woods was booked into Martin County Jail but was released later that same evening.
At the jail, he did take a breathalyzer test, which came back at 0.00 no alcohol in his system. But he refused a urine test for other substances. The sheriff said investigators weren’t focused on alcohol anyway. They still believe something caused impairment, possibly medication or another substance. As the sheriff put it,
“We will never get the results of what he was actually impaired with.”
News of the crash spread fast on social media. A lot of people immediately started sharing Woods’ old 2017 mugshot (the one with the “May 2” date stamp), which led to plenty of jokes and some confusion. No new mugshot from this incident has been released yet. The reactions online have been a mix of genuine concern and the usual memes.
This is Woods’ second DUI-related arrest in the Jupiter area. Back in 2017, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving after police found him asleep behind wheel. Toxicology at the time showed prescription pain meds in his system. Woods has been open in the past about dealing with a lot of chronic pain from multiple back and leg surgeries. He ruptured his Achilles tendon in March 2025 and had another back surgery in October 2025. He had only recently started getting back into limited competition, playing in the TGL finals with his Jupiter Links GC team just this past week.
President Donald Trump, who has called Woods a friend over the years, said publicly that he “feels so badly” for him. So far, Woods’ team hasn’t put out any statement. The case is still in its very early stages, and court dates haven’t been set yet.
