Jacksonville rapper Nardo Wick was arrested in Georgia earlier this month and booked into the Forsyth County Jail on a fugitive-from-justice charge connected to an outstanding felony warrant in Florida.
According to jail records, Wick — born Horace Bernard Walls III — was taken into custody on Feb. 6 in Forsyth County, north of Atlanta. The charge indicates that the 24-year-old artist is being held on behalf of another state while extradition is considered. As of Feb. 10, Wick remained in custody, and details surrounding bond, extradition proceedings, or the underlying Florida felony have not been made public.
Wick rose to prominence in 2021 with his breakout single “Who Want Smoke?,” which went viral on streaming services and social media. The song’s high-profile remix featuring Lil Durk, 21 Savage and G Herbo further elevated his profile, helping establish him as one of Jacksonville’s most visible rap exports. He later released his debut album Who Is Nardo Wick? in December 2021, followed by a deluxe edition and collaborations with artists including Future and Lil Baby. In 2022, he was named to XXL’s Freshman Class.
The rapper’s career has unfolded alongside a series of legal headlines. In 2021, Wick was charged in a fatal shooting after killing a man authorities said attempted to rob him; the charge was later dropped after investigators ruled the shooting self-defense. He was also briefly detained that year on a concealed firearm charge before being released.
In November 2023, Wick’s name resurfaced following an incident outside a Tampa nightclub in which a fan was beaten by members of his entourage after requesting a photo. Video of the assault circulated widely online, leading to felony battery charges against two individuals connected to the incident. Wick was not charged and publicly distanced himself from the situation, issuing an apology and offering a reward for information.
Reaction to Wick’s latest arrest reflects a familiar pattern in hip-hop discourse. Supporters flooded comment sections with messages like “free wickman,” while others voiced frustration over the recurring legal troubles that often surround rising rap stars.
