A wild scene unfolded at a Planet Fitness in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood last week, caught on a 37-second cellphone video that’s blowing up online. The clip shows a woman vaulting over the front desk like she’s in an action movie and throwing a barrage of punches at a male staffer. Posted first on X by @DailyLoud, it’s already pulled in over 7 million views and 43,000 likes in no time flat, with folks churning out memes about gym meltdowns and hashing out Florida’s self-defense laws.
A tweet from X.
Miami cops say it all kicked off on December 12, 2025, in the women’s locker room at the spot on 775 Southwest 8th Street. Kiara Bryant, who’s 35, was apparently shouting and stirring up trouble. A guy working there came over and told her something like,
“Hey, you can’t be yelling in here tone it down or leave, or I’ll have to call the police.”
She got right up in his grill, clenched her fists, and it escalated from there.
From the police reports, the employee shoved her back a couple times just to keep her at bay as she kept coming at him aggressively that’s what they’re calling self-defense. Bryant slipped on her shoes, marched straight to the front desk, hopped the counter into the staff area, and went after him. The video picks up with her landing solid punches to his face and nose, including this spinning backfist that witnesses mentioned. The dude just hunkered down, shielded his head, and backed off without swinging back once. Other employees, a bunch of them women, were yelling “Call 911!” but nobody jumped in physically.
He wound up with a busted nose and some nasty facial cuts that landed him in the hospital. His lawyer, Alecsander Kohn from the Weil Law Firm, told local news like WSVN that the charges don’t do justice to how bad it was.
“This came out of nowhere, just from asking her to follow basic rules,”
Kohn said in a statement. He’s gunning for heavier charges, maybe felony battery considering the injuries.
The whole mess spilled outside to the parking lot, where Bryant was screaming curses and trying to scrap with random people while getting in her car to bail. Cops showed up around 10:11 a.m. after reports of a woman “running around without clothes” and going nuts. They nabbed her on the spot for misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. She posted $150 bail, got banned from the gym for life. Planet Fitness put out a statement saying safety for staff and members is everything to them, and they don’t put up with any violence. They yanked her membership and worked with the police.
On social media, reactions are all over the place some people are giving the employee props for not fighting back, others are turning it into jokes about the hell of customer service jobs. But there’s a ton of misinformation too, like claims he started it, even though the video and reports make it clear he didn’t. It’s a classic case of how a short clip explodes online and warps the story on spots like X, Reddit, and Insta.
As a side note from a reporting angle Stuff like this shines a light on how assaults on frontline workers are getting worse. The Bureau of Labor Stats clocked over 18,000 nonfatal injuries from workplace violence in retail and leisure gigs back in 2023. Florida’s stand-your-ground stuff complicates things, but cops here saw the employee’s moves as straight-up defense.
