In the video, the woman named Kazbrown recalls her college years in Lexington and a chance encounter with the Toronto superstar during the school’s famous preseason event, Big Blue Madness.
“Story time about how I met Drake. So, I’m going to Drake’s show next week in Milan and it occurred to me, chat, that I’ve never told y’all the story about how I met Aubrey, Drizzy, Drake, Champagne, Poppy, Six God, Mr. Tumasa, the boy, Graham, when I was in college. So, gather around and grab your drink of choice and I will set the scene for you.”
She explained that her first chance to see him came during freshman year, when Drake famously suited up in full Kentucky warm-ups and joined the Wildcats on the court.
“So, it was a crisp October morning in Lexington, Kentucky and the campus is buzzing because that night it’s Big Blue Madness. And if you know anything about the University of Kentucky or just the state of Kentucky in general, you know how important basketball is. And if you know anything about Drake, you know how important basketball is to him. Like, very big hoop head and he’s got this like friendship relationship with Coach Cal. So, he’s a big Kentucky fan. My freshman year, Drake comes to Kentucky. That was the year that he like put on the full warm-up suit and warmed up with the team. Let me just show y’all a picture. So, this is Drake literally laced up head to toe in the full warm-up going through the team warm-up for Big Blue Madness.”
She missed that appearance due to a volleyball away game in Starkville, Mississippi — but by her senior year, she was determined not to miss her chance.
“Fast forward to my senior year. We’re in town for Madness and word on the street is Drake is gonna be there. So, I’m pulling out all the stops. Like, I’m asking everybody I know, is he gonna be here? Like, what’s really good? And everybody’s like, I don’t know. Is he? Is he? I don’t know. And I’m like, hey, I’m really not trying to mess around with y’all. Like, let me know if this man is gonna be on campus or not. Like, I’m a senior now. I missed freshman year. Like, this is my campus. He really needed to check in with me, I’m thinking.”
Her persistence paid off. As the scrimmage wound, a marketing contact tipped her off to where Drake would exit the building.
“My connect from marketing, as the game is winding down, he’s like, hey, listen, there’s only one exit that Drake can go out of. So, if you stand right here, like, this is where he’s gonna be exiting. I cannot guarantee that he will talk to you. I can’t guarantee that he will stop and take pictures. I can’t even guarantee that he will acknowledge your presence. I’m just letting you know he’s going out this door so you can place yourself there. I said, say no more, boss.”
Her gamble worked.
“Me and a couple of my teammates, we go. He walks by, like, stop him. He’s very cool. He’s very nice. We’re chatting him up. Like, we’re talking to him. We have a game like that in that weekend and we’re talking to him. We’re like, yeah, we’re playing the number one team and they’re undefeated. And he’s like, y’all got it. That’s what’s up. Blah, blah, blah. Like, very, very kind. Stop and talk to us for a few minutes. And he, like, was flying out the next day or whatever. He’s like, oh, yeah, I’m gonna have the game on, like, on the plane. And it’s like, no, you’re not. But tell me lies. Make them sound good. Like, I can appreciate him just chatting me up. I’m chatting him up. He doesn’t care about my volleyball game. He talking about he gonna watch the volleyball game. Like, we’re just, we’re just chatting up. And I can really appreciate that from my fav.”

“So, this is the picture we got. That’s literally Chubbs, like, in the background right there. That’s Chubbs because if you know Drake, you know Chubbs is always, like, in arms, like, the way.
