Rather than let the customer’s Little Caesars pizza go to waste, two officers at work at the Tempe Police Department elected to complete the delivery, in a community-service viral incident when it won over many people’s hearts on social media.
The incident began as police pulled over the unknown driver, who was heading towards a customer’s place with a pizza order. Having arrested him because of traffic regulations, police had in his vehicle the still-warm order of little Caesars. By utilizing the location of delivery given in the phone of the driver, they decided to deliver the pizza themselves. Bodycam and doorbell footage, later released by the Tempe Police Department, shows the officers approaching Brandy’s door, pizza in hand.
“How are you doing? Brandy?”
one officer asked.
“So your Grubhub guy got arrested, so we still delivered your pizza. It should still be warm.”
A stunned Brandy replied,
“I really appreciate the pizza. Thank you very, very much!”
Tempe Police Department shared the sentimental encounter on their X account on July 12, 2025, in a humorous caption:
“Order was Hot-N-Ready, and the suspect was Caught-N-Steady. We work 24/7 serving our community whether it’s safety or pizza delivery!”
It became a viral sensation in no time, with accolades coming in through news mediums such as the New York Post, Fox News and AZ Family. Social media users lauded the officers’ dedication, with one commenting,
“Patrol Police Officers are such nice young guys. They come up with great ways to serve their communities.”
Some even joked about whether the delivery arrived in under 30 minutes or if a tip was offered.
Grubhub responded to the incident, expressing gratitude to the officers for their efforts while confirming that the driver’s account was suspended pending further investigation.
“We give a whole-hearted ‘thank you’ to the officers for going the extra mile to deliver this order to our customer,”
a Grubhub spokesperson told Fox News. The company also noted concern over the driver’s arrest, emphasizing their commitment to safety.
This is not the first instance officers in Arizona have answered such a call. In May-June of 2024, police in Arizona state handed out DoorDash groceries as a result of string of driver detentions, in a move towards ever-more community-oriented police work. These acts help humanize law enforcement, fostering trust in a time when public perception of police can be polarized. The Tempe incident, occurring on Independence Day, added a patriotic flair to the officers’ goodwill, resonating with audiences celebrating community spirit.
