Sources around the actress, however, confirm that Sweeney put her career first and made the difficult decision to end the engagement.
Sweeney and Davino were originally romantically matched up together back in 2018, and their relationship was generally kept under wraps. Their 2022 engagement was hailed as being a big step, though reports are that their relationship had been “tumultuous for quite some time.” While the couple was originally set to wed in 2025, rising professional commitments purportedly made Sweeney overwhelmed, particularly when it came to planning the wedding.
Despite being incredibly tight, sources indicate that Sweeney’s demanding work ethic placed an enormous burden on their relationship. With numerous high-profile projects lined up, including the upcoming season of Euphoria, and an adaptation of The Housemaid as a film, as well as upcoming biopic roles as boxer Christy Martin and actress Kim Novak, Sweeney is utterly consumed by work.

"She’s exactly where she’s meant to be. Many would be overwhelmed by the work she’s doing this year, but not Syd. She’s just focused on working and really excited about all of her projects. Something that did overwhelm her, however, was her relationship and the fact that she got married. She did not feel good about it."
It was not that she did not love the person, the same source emphasized. It was all about priorities and timing.
"She's not ready to settle down. They made it this far because it was hard for her to end it. They broke up because she just wants to focus on working right now."
