Deiondra Sanders, daughter of NFL legend Deion Sanders, has declared that her soon-to-be-born son will bear her surname rather than that of his father, singer Jacquees. This decision comes despite the couple’s unmarried status and breaks from the traditional practice of a child taking the father’s last name.
Meet Deiondra Sanders, the American reality TV star and entrepreneur. She is identified from the popular show “Deion’s Family Playbook” from in between the series “Deion and Pilar Sanders: Prime Time Love.” And owns the hair extensions line called “Love Me Extensions.” Of course, one cannot forget about the shoe boutique “House of Sole,” among other online boutiques.
The expectant couple recently posted the news about the pregnancy on Instagram, sharing all their happiness and joy with their followers. Having gone through many hardships, such as multiple myomectomies to do away with fibroid tumors, Deiondra is determined to have her baby. She hopes to be an example to other women who may end up in similar circumstances.
The same message was being hailed by her boyfriend, Jacquees, when he posted a picture of himself kissing Deiondra’s belly alongside the words: “I love you so much and Im so happy”; though it is the debate over the name of the baby that fetched her the most surprising moment to open up.
In a recent video posted on YouTube, “Deiondra and Jacquees Gender Reveal,” Deiondra told Jacquees that their child will not share his name. Jacquees, although his real name is Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, suggested, “Well if it’s a boy, his name is Junior,” to which Deiondra responded, “But I’m not going for that. Technically it [the baby] can’t be a junior.”
Jacquees, who is adamant about things being right and having his last name synced with the child, stays countered, “That’s not gonna happen … ’cause I’m not married. So my last name is going as well.”

That move has killed a lot of conversations to be had on social media, the followers who are understanding with Deiondra’s decision to not give their child anything other than the Sanders last name.
Deiondra’s father, Deion Sanders, has always been super protective—not just while she’s been pregnant. He has been very proud of her and has let her know that, come what may, there will be a father to the baby as he fathers her, even if Jacquees doesn’t “man up” to his responsibilities and do right by her.
Deion Sanders is just one of those incredible athletes who has wowed sports fans from his college days. He is actually the only athlete to have played in both the NFL’s Super Bowl and the Major League Baseball World Series. Being a grandfather is just another notch in that belt!
